Alice Stewart, CNN political analyst and long time conservative Republican consultant, was found dead outside near her home last night, believed to be the result of a medical condition, not foul play.
She worked for Mike Huckabee when he was Gov of Arkansas, and then many of the main hyper conservative Republicans prior to Trump. She is being remembered by colleagues in politics and CNN as a kind and happy person, who believed politics was more about making friends than enemies.
I’m sorry that she has died so early, and send condolences to her family. I saw her less as a bridge builder than as a conservative true believer who was un willing to take responsibility for the worst aspects of Trumpism, and felt they were justified by low tax rates for the wealthy, reduced corporate oversight, and Supreme Court Justices who would vote to overturn Roe. She was kind and happy in the same fake and disengenuous way her former boss Huckabee was.

Alice Stewart, a CNN political commentator and veteran political adviser who worked on a number of GOP presidential campaigns, has died at age 58, the news network reported Saturday.
Police in northern Virginia told CNN that Stewart’s body was found outdoors in the Bellevue neighborhood early Saturday morning and that no foul play was suspected. Officials believe Stewart suffered a medical episode, according to CNN….
“My position at CNN is to be a conservative voice yet an independent thinker,” Stewart said. “I’m not a Kool-Aid drinker; I’m not a never-Trumper, and I didn’t check my common sense and decency at the door when I voted for (Trump).”
