What was one became two and is now one again... for now.

I guess Disney can’t own everything.

Speaking of CBS...has anyone else noticed that they've started tagging all of their promos with Starfleet insignias? I noticed it last night during "Survivor" - separate promos for "Mom" and "Evil" ended with the CBS logo, which quickly blipped into the Starfleet insignia before the promo ended. If this is promotion for "Star Trek Discovery" or "Picard", it's...unusual to say the least.

I suspect Trekkies are just about the only people using the CBS streaming service, so they are promoting the bejeezus out of it to make sure the eight who haven’t heard about it sign up.

I confess I’m interested in the Picard series, but my expectations are mighty low considering so much of it is the brainchild of the Discovery creative team.

Since I've only noticed it during "Young Sheldon" promos, I didn't think much of it (especially since Sheldon's in Spock costume for part of the latest promo)

It's possible the inclusion of the Starfleet delta shield reflects the reunion of the Paramount TV and film divisions (split up when Viacom and CBS split near the beginning of the century).  Does anyone have a handle on the other images at the end of the promo?

We ran a promo for “Evil” tonight where it appeared briefly; that was local, so it’s on the promos they feed to stations on the daily piping.

They typically send a PR email when there’s some big thing they’re hyping, but I haven’t seen anything for this, so whatever the purpose, it’s pretty clear they’re keeping it low-key.  For now.  If they’re starting this early though, I’d imagine once we get closer to P-Stew’s "Get Off My Lawn” in January, the hype machine will shift into hyperspeed.

(Sorry if I triggered any Trek fans by not calling it “warp speed”.)

All of the business reporting I saw at the time of the merger was that the intention was to prepare to be bought out by a bigger media company.
