Instead of looking this as a single incident, we need to look at the background
Over the past 20 years, media has been relentlessly portraying every case of maternal death (especially in government hospitals) as if it was due to the negligence of doctors
The Husband and the elder kid will be photographed and it will be written that the doctor had made them orphan
It was presumed that the mother was otherwise healthy and the doctor killed her
--We know that Negligence can cause death, but NOT ALL DEATHS are due to negligence.
But
Every case of death was automatically made as a case of negligence. The message public got from media was the "if the patient dies, it is ONLY because of wrong treatment / no treatment"
--
The medical community as a whole failed to counter this false propaganda. . . We have now paid the price of being slack in not countering this false propaganda
--
This one day strike will not be of any use
We need to do the following
1. Any wrong news in media has to be countered immediately and legally
2. The habit of transferring the doctor without enquiry "to pacify public" after a case of death to be stopped . . . The transfer gives the message to the public that the doctor has erred, even when there is no negligence on the part of the doctor
