At our meeting on March 21, 2022 the TriValley Democratic Club voted to ask for your support for the Ukraine.  This week, President Zelinskyy said "If Ukraine belonged to NATO, it wouldn’t be in a war right now."  The TriValley Democratic Club asks you to support inviting Ukraine into NATO.

A bully depends on the victim's fear and denial to impose his will.  Not forcefully confronting a bully with damaging actions just encourages the bully.  Sanctions will not deter Putin the bully, it is denial to think he will change course because of sanctions.  Before the invasion NATO countries feared provoking Putin so they did not invite Ukraine to join NATO.  Now, provoking Putin does not matter.  Putin fears Ukraine joining NATO; it would hurt his ego and damage his credibility in Russia.  

Ukraine in NATO says "get out or be kicked out of the Ukraine" to Russia.  Just the threat of Ukraine in NATO, will have leverage.  Starting the process of bringing Ukraine in NATO will have an impact greater than the sanctions.  NATO countries have never been more unified against the bully's invasion,   It is likely NATO countries will be inclined to invite Ukraine to join.

Thursday President Biden will go to Europe to meet with NATO leaders, please encourage him to rally those leaders to invite Ukraine into NATO.  

Be courageous like a Ukrainian.
