Caution

Please note that firmware updating probably will clean all data in the device, make sure to back up the important data before doing it.

 

Preparation

A USB Flash Drive

A common USB Flash Drive is needed for firmware updating. 

If a portable hard disk is used instead of a usb flash disk, please make sure the portable hard disk only has one partition, a multi-partition portable hard disk might lead to fail in updating.

 

Get .ZIP file package

A .zip file package is just like this: 

 

You must contact with the official customer service to ask them for the correct and latest .zip file package, and make sure that the .zip file package that they send you is compatible with your device.

After you get it, you can use 7z or latest WinRAR to decompress the firmware package, and remember the location of decompressed files.

 

Update Process

There are two ways to update the firmware of your device.

Way 1: Update by the APP "UPDATE&BACKUP" in system.

Way 2: Update in Recovery Mode.

OPERATING STEPS VIA WAY 1

1. Copy all files that were decompressed before, then paste into the root directory of a USB flash disk.

 

 

2. Connect USB flash disk to device.

 

3. Goto "My Apps">"UPDATE&BACKUP", Click "Select", a list of paths will be scanned out automatically, find and click a path in which includes the OTA package name (For instance，"q201-ota-xxxxxxxx.zip"). 

 

4. (Optional operation) Enable "Wipe Data" and "Wipe Media" , ALL DATA AND SYSTEM SETTINGS WILL BE CLEANED OUT!. Notice: If some malfunctions happen after updating done, it is necessary to re-update with these two options.

 

5. Click "Update", click again "Update" on the pop-up window, then the system will auto-complete subsequent updating.

 

OPERATING STEPS VIA WAY 2 (A way when the system fails to boot up)

1. Copy all files that were decompressed before, then paste into the root directory of a USB flash disk. 

2. Power off the device and connect USB flash disk to the device. 

3. Use a fine pin or toothpick, insert into the pin-hole for RESET located on the rear side of device, then press and hold down, do not loosen it. 

 

4. Press and hold down POWER key located on the rear side of device, also do not loosen it. 

 

5. Watch the display screen of television, when Recovery Mode appears out, immediately loosen two keys. 

 

6. (Optional operation) In Recovery Mode, choose to execute "Wipe data/factory reset" and "Wipe cache partition" to clean user data and apps cache, ALL DATA AND SYSTEM SETTINGS WILL BE CLEANED OUT! Notice: If some malfunctions happen after updating done, this step is necessary to be executed for fixing.

  

7. Choose "Apply update from EXT" > "update from udisk", find and choose the line which shows the name of OTA zip package (for instance，"q201-ota-xxxxxxxx.zip")， then execute updating. 

 

8. Wait till the display screen shows "Install from udisk complete.", choose "Reboot system now" to reboot the device.

 

Notice

If the options "Wipe Data" and "Wipe Media" have been executed, or the options "Wipe data/factory reset" and "Wipe cache partition" in the recovery mode have been executed, after updating done, the first boot of system will take more time than normal boot, and after the first boot is done, the system still needs to reboot automatically for 2 times, to initialize resources for APP service, it will take approximate 5 minutes. It is very necessary, please wait patiently.
