Subject: Invitation to the Frontiers of Cosmology Reception and Lecture - Thursday, June 4 at UC Riverside

Dear Friends of UC Riverside,

On behalf of the UCR Department of Physics & Astronomy and its new Center for Experimental Cosmology & Instrumentation (CECI), I would like to invite you to our next special event on the frontiers of cosmology.

We will be hosting a reception on Thursday, June 4th at 5:00 pm to be followed by a public lecture by Professor Adam Riess of Johns Hopkins University, a 2011 Nobel Laureate in Physics for the discovery of cosmic acceleration known as "Dark Energy." The event is titled the "Frontiers of Cosmology Lecture: The Surprising Expansion History of the Universe." It will feature introductory remarks by UCR Provost Elizabeth Watkins.

We would be honored if you are able to join us. The reception and lecture will be held on the UCR campus in the University Theatre (map). Free parking is available in Parking Lot 6 Blue with parking registration. Guests are welcome. Please register yourself and any guests by completing the following online forms:

More information on the lecture topic is contained in the attached flier. We hope you can join us for this special event.

Best regards,
Jon Richardson
Assistant Professor of Physics, on behalf of the organizing committee
