Mixvibes just released an update to its hugely popular Remixlive looping app. Now at version 3.0, the update adds drum pads for finger drumming on the fly. This added interface gives the app a new live performance dimension, allowing you to improvise alongside loops. You can even build your own loop patterns using the new pattern sequencer recorder for beat making from the ground up.

Hello all, I'd like to play songs from my music library along with the drum loops from ideally Launchpad or Remixlive but neither of them have Ableton link, and while Launchpad has MIDI out, none of the DJ apps to my knowledge have MIDI in.
So, yesterday, I watched this Mark Farina vid. Great stuff. It really stood out to me how much he uses loops. Just let's 'em ride for a long time. He even has time to hot box his cat with a vape. Anyway, I can see that he's picking loops thoughtfully, something that goes phrase-to-phrase, doesn't end with a drum break or half of a build up. Something that won't get too repetitive and yet it has something interesting like a little bit of vocal or an interesting little piece of a melody. Then he just builds on it - with another loop.
So I thought, I gotta try this. So I cued up some pretty chill Deep House, Organic House kind of stuff and started layering loops, then fucking with filters more than I usually do, just to keep it interesting. Using the high-pass or the low-pass like FX, nut just to EQ a song in or out. Tweaking and holding. Then doubling the loops, halving them, keeping them going for like 5 minutes or longer. DAYUM! It was so good. What an amazing session. I feel like I broke some new ground for myself, creatively. I played for at least ah hour and I was so energized when I was done. Felt like doors just opened.
