Manyparents teaching Cantonese are constantly looking for Cantonese cartoons. Cartoons, when used judiciously, can help to increase exposure to a minority language. The constraints, however, are that Cantonese DVDs are hard to find, unless you are in Hong Kong. However, YouTube comes to the rescue, with plenty of Cantonese cartoons for you to choose from.
As you can see, there are plenty of Cantonese cartoons on YouTube, many of which are classics. I featured as many of the popular ones as I could, but if you have any good channels and playlists that you would like to recommend, please feel free to leave comment below. I will continue to update this post with more resources.
If you can find Paw Patrol in Cantonese that would be super awesome? What about those unboxing video or learning colour-playdough videos? Anyone making those in canto out there? There are not very good videos to watch, but my kids seem to like them. Better to watch it in canto at least!
Thanks Soolee for your feedback. Yes, this is a list of cartoons that are in Cantonese on YouTube. As indicated in the post, some are translated from other languages, including Japanese, Korean and English. The list are for people looking for cartoons in Cantonese. I would love to include original Cantonese Cartoons, but many are not available on YouTube. If you have any channels to recommend, I would love to learn about them, and to include them where appropriate. Thanks!
First at all, thanks for your sharing!
Do you know why is not possible to watch a lot of videos in cantonese? For example, Ninjago we can only watch 1 of 66 videos.
We live in Europe.
Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately the Ninjago videos are not accessible to us in Australia either. According to google, there are two main reasons : 1) Video owners have chosen to make their content available only to certain countries/ regions (usually due to licensing rights) 2) YouTube may block specific content to comply with local laws.
Thank you for sharing so much great info!
My kids recently have gotten into My Little Pony. They love to watch it so much, and their Cantonese has improved a lot since watching (and rewatching) the episodes on youtube. Do you know where I can find more MLP cantonese episodes?? I know the series has 9 seasons, but the youtube playlist only has maybe 10 episdoes. It would be such a shame that something has sparked their language interest, only to have it stunted by lack of access.
