DBS401T Semester Test 2

Good day,

This is to confirm that we will be writing a test this Saturday 11 May
2013 at 08:30...The venue will be made available tomorrow.

The test has to be written this weekend as the predicate day is on
Thursday 16 May 2013. We cannot write the test on the 18th.

The scope of the test is the concepts on the group assignment.

Mr Lecturer, with all due respect I think you are out of order.

Our class was cancelled this past Saturday, and we weren't informed on time.

Now we are told that we are writing our 2nd Test in 2 days, whereas we are in the knowledge of the 18th.

Its not any of the students' fault you are under pressure. How do you expect us to start preparing for the test in such a short space of time?

Over and above that, if you don't negotiate with us regarding this matter, what do you expect us to do with the other modules we are writing tests on.

I am quite sure all students want to pass and get it over and done with this BTech, and its a lot of money we are paying here, so please, make another plan.

Guys

Im going to that DBS class on saturday and a movement must be started. We are not writting this test. This is unfair on people who are writting other tests. So if you feel the same way and are free saturday morning lets go talk rational with this guy. This cant happen.

I think the lecturer concern should make proper arrangements with us but this way is not right way at all. The fact of the matter is that there is no DBS401T class this Saturday. some other students are writing other subjects tests this Saturday, I mean the whole day until 17:30. The fact that TUT has never put all subjects in one Saturday, they did not want them to clash, so why Mr Nyalungu is clashing tests for us because he want to accommodate his subject.

 

In actually fact there is no time slot for DBS401T test this Saturday at all. I think Mr Nyalungu should consider the group assignment as Test 2 due to the fact that he failed to communicate his subject matter properly and in time us. He should not just push the test on us just like that, and it looks like he does not even negotiate with us, what nonsense is that.

 

If he cannot consider the Group Assignment, at least he should consider sunday to avoid clashing tests this Saturday, only if we really need to write this Database test.

This Lecturer should not gamble with our money like this. He must know that we are paying this subject. The crazy of the matter is that he did not even teach us anything regarding the test in question. We don't even have lecture notes.

 

I have never seen a disorganized subject like this one honestly. He does not even communicate with students to clarify the matters and I also wondering if he knows the B-Tech time-table. At least if he is under pressure then he needs to communicate with the department and students so that we can come up with a wayforward, unlike just treating us like high school girls and boys.

I am suggesting the standing point should be Group Assignment must replace the Semester test 2. If we all agree with this then we communicate this to Victor to inform the Lecturer concern by tomorrow. I think this will solve all the issues around this subject and it's test.

 

And I also believe the intention of the Lecturer is not to fail the students unless otherwise.

This is the most disorganized lecturer i have ever seen.

1. He does not have the guards to communicate anything with his own students

2. He does not post anything on MyTutor, the last information uploaded was because of the pressure we gave him

3. He is very inconsiderate

4. He looks like he does not know what he's doing

Regarding the test tomorrow, there is no way we can write at any particular time, there are people attending and writing other subjects which are specifically scheduled for that day.

This guy is mad, he thinks this is a free institution and we have time to waste our precious time out of the blue.

I suggest that those who can make to class tomorrow should, so that we hear what he has to say (on the other hand, why give him that satisfaction while he himself cannot communicate with his own students and explain the situation a t hand)

I suggest we write a letter/an email to the dean, its time somebody kicked in reality to Mr. Nyalungu.

Apparently some students have been sending him emails wrt the subject but he never responds.

I do support your suggestions Phumzile, more especially if he is not going to corporate with us on Saturday. The fact remains, he does not even have a class this Saturday, do we have to get out of our other classes and come to write his subject. Is it because he thinks other subjects are not important but only his subjects.

Important announcement.

 

 

Due the challenges with the predicates dates being the brought forward the test will be writtenon Tuesday, the 14^th May 2013, at 17H30 at our usual venue. Due to time constraints, the test will be divided in to two groups.

 

 

Those who wrote the first test:  (1hour)

 

 

 

Scope:

 

 

The stuff that was covered in the assignment will form the basis of the test including the application of the Crow’s Foot Notation.

 

 

 

 

Those who didn’t write the first test (sick): (1 hour, 30 minutes)
