Here's part of an email I received on Friday. Thought you guys might
be interested.

"Want to get outside with the kids and enjoy the beautiful fall
weather? Want to learn more about the University of Alabama's
Arboretum? Then this is for you!

"WHAT: First of a series of monthly nature hikes at the University of
Alabama Arboretum and a great intro to all that the Arboretum has to
offer. This outing will cover the main loop trail through the
arboretum stopping at the green houses, tree platform, organic garden,
children's garden and pond. There will be fun educational activities
along the way.

"WHEN: Sunday Oct 11th 3:00-5:30

"WHERE: Outdoor Recreation office at 3pm
or at 3:30 in the upper parking lot at the arb.

"WHO: A trained naturalist will lead the group.
Parents with children are encouraged to attend. The trail best serves
kids over 4 or [those] who can ride in a backpack/carrier or [those]
who are excellent
early walkers; there are some hills, rocks bridges… to cross. Older
kids can enjoy the hike as well as the trip leader has experience with
kids on trails from ages 4-16.

"HOW MUCH: The cost is $10/per person. Kids under 10 are FREE.
It is free to visit the University Arboretum; the cost covers the
logistics of presenting through the Outdoor Rec program.

"REGISTRATION: required call or stop by outdoor rec, located on the
east side of the student rec center 205.348.7045 or e-mail
outdoor.r...@ua.edu

"Please wear sturdy shoes for walking, bring temperature/weather
appropriate clothes; we will be outdoors the entire time. A water
bottle if desired (there is a drinking fountain) and snacks.
Folks who drive themselves are welcome to stay as long as desired.

"QUESTIONS: about specific details or where to meet about the nature
hikes at the Arboretum please contact Kelly Cannon via e-mail
mounta...@gmail.com.
