We'll have to get a really good and decently accessible game for an arena shooter revival. Quake Champions tried to do that i guess, by introducing the character skills and all that stuff. If ID really wanted it to be a thing they could given the huge success of the recent Doom games, It doesn't seem like their highest priority at the moment though.
Honestly it was because the game was in the classic era of being gray to pretend it's a "dark game" and it didn't do any favors for it to look like a gears of war spin-off
I mostly played the game to screw around with feign death by jumping off bridges, cliffs, roofs and more lol!
I also soundly reject your assertion it was a "step backwards" to UT2004, mostly because UT2003/UT2004 was a step sideways away from the entire Unreal/UT game style. UT3 was a more successful blend of the originals' faster ground-based action, while still retaining some of the good things (more movement options without being stupidly floaty, vehicular combat) while dumping some of the dumber shit (adrenaline, adrenaline-based powerups, Shield Gun).
I agree with pretty much everything that @Dark Pulse said. UT3 actually became a really good game once most of the issues got fixed (either by the Titan Pack or by community patches like Foxmod). Even the visuals could be made more vibrant by color tweaking of some shader with UT3's Editor (I remember making one that I unfortunately never released, though I still probably have it in my computer).
As recommended by many there are old drivers for the Uphoria UM2 flying around to be exact "BEHRINGER_2902_X64_2.8.40" or 2909 Version 2.8.40. Those are said to help out and deliver proprietary ASIO drivers. For me they only delivered worse audio since there were hissing, static and cracking/crackling noises. I wanted to uninstall them but whatever I tried the previously "USB Audio CODEC" device stayed as "BEHRINGER USB AUDIO WDM".
I have an iMac running OSX 10.13.6. Despite being 10 yrs old the computer itself is working fine with the exception of Photoshop. A recent update has rendered the software useless as it crashes all the time. I have version 21 on my desktop and 22 on my laptop which works fine, however, laptop is not really the place I do my main work. I wanted to revert to an earlier version of Photoshop that doesn't crash but that doesn't seem to be possible. The only options in the install earlier versions section show the latest incompatible version plus the version I have installed (which crashes). I see all the earlier versions for lightroom and thought it should be the same for Photoshop/Bridge. I just want to roll back one updated. Unfortunately I don't have a TimeMachine back up from an earlier version as I had inadvertently switched Time Machine off.
