New Year’s Message:
As we boldly step into the year 2020, a new decade, with renewed hope and energy for the year ahead with all its possibilities, let us take the time to reflect on 2019. While we all know that 2019 hasn’t been without its societal challenges, I would like to end the year highlighting two refreshing experiences that I have had in the last several weeks. These two experiences add to my hope and excitement for the future of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
On a recent trip to South Caicos, I was booked to travel with Intercaribbean Airlines. To my surprise as we walked the tarmac, we were escorted to a Caicos Express Airplane. While airline partnerships and associations may be common place in many countries, I was pleased to see such cooperation between our local airlines. This may not be a big deal to some, but it was a big deal to me and left me feeling hopeful about business community partnerships that focus on common goals to building an even stronger Turks and Caicos Islands.
The second occurrence happened when I recently attended a funeral in North Caicos. The vehicle that was rented by my colleague was owned by a company that was once three individual rental car companies. This triad of companies, all with local principles in their early thirties, merged and now own approximately 65 % of the rental car fleet in the North and Middle Caicos Market. Wow! What a powerhouse. I rarely hear about partnerships amongst our companies, but am happy to see when it does happen. I leave these final words with you as we journey through 2020 together. It is my wish that we are all positioned to Help Our People Excel through Leadership, Integrity, Fellowship and Education to Possess Our Wealth, Economy, and Resources. H.O.P.E., L.I.F.E., P.O.W.E.R. Happy New Year!!
