We are pleased to announce the release of the first digital edition patch of the GraViz: The Ottoman Grand Vizierate 1560s to 1760s project, funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). This installment features the transcribed and translated correspondence of Sokollu Mehmed Pasha (in office: 1565–1579) with the Habsburg court.

GraViz investigates the institutional evolution of the Ottoman grand vizierate through micro-analyses of diplomatic language in Ottoman-Habsburg correspondence. Drawing on Ottoman Turkish, Latin, and German documents  in Vienna and Istanbul, this release makes these materials transcribed, translated, and digitally accessible for the first time. It offers new insights into early modern diplomatic practice and the shifting dynamics of imperial power.
