Hi DRC,

I am interested in the results of the turbo-h264.c experiment from vncbenchtools and/or a copy of the dataset so I can play around with other image formats that have popped up in this decade (many also based on i-frames, others having more orthodox ideas).

Personally I am interested in seeing how JPEG XL compares against both old JPEG tight and turbo-264, since it promises a jpeg-like encoding speed and a better-than-h264 quality. It also has a decent lossless mode.

Thanks,

I am very interested to hear about your results.  I have fixed the bug
you reported in vncbenchtools. Let me know if you need any additional help.

The H.264 experiment is documented here:

https://turbovnc.org/About/H264

(There is even an OpenDocument spreadsheet attached to that article.)

I will send you a link to the datasets off-list.

Thanks! Now that I've re-read the article, it finally occurred to me that it was indeed testing turbo-h264 and not the h264.c. Oops, silly me.
