TG/TG2 have been having sprints about 1x a month for the last 6 months
or so. I think we should keep this up, but let's up the ante a bit.

First off, I think we should have a sprint the last weekend of every
month, this makes it easy to understand. (Except for December,
because December is CRAZY)

Secondly, I think it would be a great idea to assign an on-site city
to each sprint. It would be a good idea to assign the sites ahead of
time so that those who want to can arrange travel to said site, and
those who live close by can make plans ahead of time. Sprints will
still continue to happen with remote-connectivity, but having a set
host city might be a great way to gain some more developers. Also, it
may help our students participating in GSoC to come to a sprint near
them.

I am personally happy to support any sprints in Denver/Boulder, CO.
(Which is a great place to visit, BTW)

Finally, lets open up the sprints to all WSGI python frameworks. We
are starting to meld and share more with all the frameworks and we
could gain a lot by sharing our sprints with the greater community.

Please post-up if you are willing to organize a sprint in your area,
know of a good venue, or are willing to put people up or help in some
other way.

Lets make 2008 the best year for TG/WSGI in terms of community
involvement!

cheers.

Sprints are a good thing but instead of concentrating too much on new
features, I would like to see a bit more effort being put in handling
open tickets and closing bugs (either by fixing them or by closing the
ticket in another way).

So here's my counter-proposal: Let's have a TG bug-squashing day every
month. If somebody wants to work on a new feature, well, just open an
enhancement ticket for it! But developers should make it a matter of
personal discipline to close at least one defect for every new feature
they implement. ATM we have 255 open tickets accross all milestones and
that's just too much, IMO.

Sounds good to me!

I'd be willing to help coordinate a Boston sprint whenever people are
interested. I've been in touch with the Beta House folks, and it
seems like it may be a nice venue, but I'm open to other suggestions
as well.

Ok, things are starting to shape up for this, so I am starting up a
"calendar" of sorts. Everything is tentative at this time.

Month - Dates - Location(s) - Organizer - Sponsor

April - 25/26 -

May - ?? - Atlanta, GA, Paris, FR - - PyATL

June - 27-29 - Denver, CO - Chris Perkins - Bivio

July - ??? - ???

August - ??? - ???

September - ??? - ?Boston, MA - Luke Macken? Note:
this is a great time of year to visit the east. Colors are
spectacular

October - ??? - California? - How about someplace warm?

Nov/Dec. I think we need a break by then.

Also, we should talk to some of the companies using WSGI technologies
and see if they will sponsor the sprints in some way. I know there
was one company using TG a lot because they had a lightning talk about
it. I forget the name... Maybe we could convince Google to fly people
around for sprinting :-)

cheers.
