Hi all,

As you are aware, mid term evaluation and survey has commenced since
July 6. As per the proposed timeline, GIS support is now added at the
ORM layer using GeoAlchemy. I am happy to state that PostGIS,
Spatialite and MySQL spatial are now supported in GeoAlchemy. A demo
TG2 app using GeoAlchemy and postgis can be seen at
http://geo.turbogears.org. The code has 90-95% coverage with a total
of 114 tests. I have been able to test them on Linux (all databases)
and OSX (thanks to ChrisP) using postgis only. I plan to add some
documentation soon.

In the next part of the project I will modify tgext.geo and
FeatureServer to use GeoAlchemy. However, if I find MapFish more
suitable, I will add it to MapFish instead. Before I finish I will add
tutorials illustrating their usage.

I have already completed the Student Midterm Survey at
socghop.appspot.com. I request Mark to kindly complete the Mentor
Survey so that I may get the payment on time ;)

regards
Sanjiv

Done. :)

I think the only thing I think we need to do at this point that's not
already on your list is to try to create some more visibility for this
project, as I think it's great stuff that's not just useful in the TG2
world! I'll try to help out with that some this weekend, and then
again during OSCON in a week and a half.

Thanks a ton Mark :)

I will update the doc strings over the next few days. They we can drop
a line at sqlalchemy list asking for feedback / suggestions / ideas.

Sanjiv
