Cancun turned out to be alright. It's very developed with 24 km of concrete and there's also a bit of segregation in the resorts with alot of the gringos in the nice pools and the Mexicano on the beach. It's a bit sad for the Mexicans also as I'd say they have trouble accessing the beaches. The only way to get to the beach is via the hotels and I'm told the hotels generally stop Mexicans. I went to a fantastic nightclub here though called Coco Bongos. They have different acts on stage all night and they have trapeze artists swinging down onto the bar. It was $63 in but it's free drink once you get in which seems to bring on bouts of headaches the next morning. All in all I'd recommend anyone to go there.

I arrived into Lima about 1 in the morning and spent only the next day there. I took it fairly handy there and only hung around for the day and also had a look down at Miraflores. I took the overnight bus (10 hours) to Truquillo that night and got the colectivo to Huanchaco. This is basically just a big outdated minibus that drops people off and picks people up along the route. It's entertaining enough looking at the guys hanging out the door trying to pick up a fare. This spot I'm in is a small fishing village which doubles as a surfing village for the tourists. Good surf here. It's about 2m alot of the time although yesterday I must have picked the only calm part of the day. I'll head for a surf now after my Desayuno or breakfast. I'm getting by with my limited Spanish but I could do with alot of improvement.

Hi Dave, Good to hear from you. Well almost a week of work over - not too bad - the weather is ok but lots of northerly stuff getting ready to move down after the weekend. a bit of me was glad to get back to fresh air and breeze but the outlook could leave me begging for an aul rainforest (dry of course) again. and certtainly wishing for a beach - surf or not. DO be careful with the sea!!!! says THE MOTHER AGAIN.
Had a good evening with Caroline on Tuesday - ate in Lawlors, shared lots of news about travelling - i'd say she's looking forward to the fine weather again- then back home for the coffee - Triona came down to collect her - lovely car!!!!.
back to visiting mam again - in better form today - was also over with helen - she had a bad day yesterday - her knee was very sore (I feel like a bit of a Florence Nightingale). Stephen is having his oral Irish next Mon or Tuesday and oral German the week after - he's working really hard - maybe a message from abroad would ease the load. it certainly would for helen - pain in the knee and the humours of the examinees (how well i remember!!!!) Aisling in Wexford also doing Leaving.
Man U on the up and up - walloped Roma on Tuesday away. Liverpool did well against Arsenal last night - away draw. Must keep news of pats for you at the weekend.

Very new dub team being tried out on sat against Monaghan (match was cancelled due to wet pitch last week) - will keep you posted - wish you had a phone and could send through scores much quicker. Do you remember the phone call i got in Mexico about prize - well helen and carmel went - play about Celtic winning Euro Cup - very funny they said and the place was full of large bald headed men reliving their youth - the girls were absolutely amazed at all the songsa and said it reminded them of the lads at home with all the irsh songs and dub songs.
Big news in Ireland at the mo - is Bertie's resignation - amazing how many people feel he was treated unfairly - feel that tribunals are a waste of money (mine) and that precautions should have been put in place to avoid further shenanigans rather than grossly overpaying legal eagles to investigatre what evry was doing thirty years ago. You should hear the voxpops from Drumcondra - really brilliant. Brian Cowan will replace him (more than likely) and we will have to wait to see who will be tanaiste and min for finance.

Well that's about all for now - really missing the company - what a great fortnight - in spite of all the climbing - and i must say my knees seem to be a lot better - as you say more exercise is whats needed. OK Doc
