Starting two days ago, when unlocking 1Password in the Chrome browser extension, when I type in the password, the dot for each character takes 5 - 10 seconds to display. That is, each dot takes that long. Once 1P is unlocked, response is normal. Just the unlocking is slow.

Nope, that delay during Master Password entry in 1Password mini (via the extension in Chrome) is not a new feature. You should be able to type it as fast as possible there without noticing any obvious delay. :)

If Master Password entry is still sluggish after that, please fully restart your Mac and see if that speeds things up again. If not, we can dig deeper to find out what's causing the delay and get it fixed. Thanks!

You're welcome, @jasimon9. Was restarting 1Password mini (and Chrome) what worked? More convenient than a system restart, but ideally neither would be necessary. Please let us know if the sluggish Master Password entry returns and we can do some specific troubleshooting. Thanks!

I experience this as well starting a week or so ago. very very annoying. The problem comes back after a while, and every time you need a password in the chrome extension its slow. I have a setup where I use the same keyfile from inside a virtual machine and on the host (osx on the host and windows on the guest). Both of the systems have the same problems with the chrome mini extension.

I agree that this is extremely annoying. We're working on it. So far every theory we've had about what's causing this has been proven wrong. It seems like a super easy thing to fix, and yet it's had us scratching our heads for weeks now. We'll get it, it'll just take time. Until then the only workaround we have is to restart mini.

Just noting I had the same issue, and the above workaround helped. While I was seeing the browser plug-in hanging (when trying to unlock it), it showed up with high CPU utilization and occasionally not responding in Activity Monitor.

We just released an update for version 6.3 today, which includes a fix for this. Please make sure you install the latest update for 1Password for Mac, and that should solve this issue for you. If you have questions about that or run into more problems, please don't hesitate to let us know! :)

Noticed this after Chrome's latest update to version 112.0.5615.87 (64-bit). I can pinpoint the issue directly to Malware protection being enabled. The page load on Chrome is very slow to the point it would occassionally freeze for a few seconds. Once disabled, Chrome page loading returns to normal. I'm only experiencing this issue on Chrome. The only two other browsers I use are FireFox and Opera. Not of which are displaying this issue. I am experiencing this issue on both my desktop pc and laptop.

I can confirm slow loading Google pages since yesterday when MalwareBytes browserguard is enabled. Using latest version of Malwarebytes and Google Chrome. Opening several tabs takes ages for the pages to load. Loading a single page is also slow.

I am having the same problem/issue as those above. Running Google Chrome version 112.0.5615.121 64-bit and Malwarebytes Browser Guard 2.6.0 (I have Malwarebytes premium so not the free version of Malwarebytes Browser Guard). With Browser Guard enabled, text will load but not pictures for about five seconds or so. Turn it off and it is instant like it has been for years. Browser Guard has no effect on Edge. Edge is instant on my system, regardless of number of tabs opened up, etc... Hope a solution is found for this soon as I have always been a Chrome user.

If you do have continued issues or it crops up again. It looks like you may have Video Downloader Professional installed which may cause JavaScript injection. If this crops up again you may want to check on that extension.

Google Chrome, a web browser built for speed, runs terribly slowly if I leave it on for a several hours. It's like it is using a lot of memory though it is not. Tabs are very slow to load or switch between. CPU and RAM usage both appear to be normal. If I reboot Ubuntu entirely and then open Chrome, it runs fine.

Disabling "Use hardware acceleration when available" in Chrome's settings (chrome://settings/system) was indeed the key to fixing the problem. It appears that this option, while beneficial for many, can sometimes lead to slowdowns on certain systems, especially when there are GPU driver compatibility issues.

I would like to add a bit more information for users who might be facing similar problems. Chrome has introduced a Performance section in newer versions (110 and onwards), which offers two features: Memory Saver and Energy Saver. The Memory Saver feature automatically suspends inactive tabs to free up memory, significantly improving the browser's responsiveness. On the other hand, the Energy Saver feature is particularly useful for laptop users as it limits background activity and visual effects to conserve power.

To check if you have the Performance section available in your Chrome settings, ensure you have the latest version of Chrome installed. Google frequently updates the browser to address performance issues and introduce new features.

It's quite amusing to note that despite Chrome being known for its speed and simplicity, it seems to have struggled with this issue for Ubuntu users for over seven years now. Sometimes, technology just loves to keep us guessing.

My issue was very unstable youtube - page took x10 slower then usual to load, page itself was flaky, responsiveness was poor. Strangely it was working fine on same PC in firefox, but chrome was just unusable.

After latest release same issue reappear. After trying same fixes over and over again i managed to find the culprit - it was adblock chrome extension. I guess its somehow related with recent youtube wars with adblock community.

In the last couple of days/weeks I notice the Chrome extension getting unbearably slow when viewing a PDF. My laptop is of high quality and very fast with other tasks. For example a PDF of only 8 pages with around 10 notes is really slow and unresponsive, especially compared to the default Chrome PDF viewer.
I have a video showing how slow the PDF viewer and eventually even crashes

In the meantime, our native viewer works fine, so you may use that if needed by going to Settings > Browser Integration and choosing Viewer with annotations. The Google Drive viewer also works.

I am writing to express my growing frustration with the painfully slow response times I have been experiencing when using ChatGPT. As a user who relies on ChatGPT for various tasks, these slow response times are significantly impacting my productivity and overall experience.
Bard write me that.

It is certainly getting very slow, especially in the long threads. But with a superfast broadband and a supercomputer at the other end this should not be the case. I have tried switching to Edge but it is still slow.

i did not pay for this. gpt4 is slow af. what the hell dude! i am sooooo pissssed offffff!!!
why is it soo slow when it is supposed to be super powerful and fast?! i wish they do something about this
gosh, wish i could have read this chat once before upgrading to gpt4

Is anyone else having issues with EBAY working with GC? It's VERY slow to load text and images and has eratic scrolling. Been having this issue for quite awhile. I use Firefox on my daily searches and it works OK.

I'm telling you guys that Google and Amazon are in bed together. These are two of the largest companys in the world, and control everything. If you don't believe me, just search for something to buy and see what pops out first. I think maybe it's time to regulate these two companys. Very odd things going on. My sales are down 60% from 2 years ago.

I don't normally use Chrome, so I can't say whether it is slower now than it usually is. But I have not noticed any of the issues described in this thread. So what follows is not based on first-hand experience, take it for what it's worth:

It's possible that eBay's ongoing changes could result in corrupted cookies or problems with cached data. If you haven't already, consider going to Settings: Advanced: Clear Browsing Data: Advanced and deleting "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files" for the last four weeks, if not completely.

Worst case, under Chrome Help there are a few options to "Make Chrome Run Better" up to and including "Reset Chrome to default" (which will delete all your custom settings and passwords, I believe, so it's definitely a last resort).

If the problem is limited to your Summary page, most of that info can be found on several other eBay pages (though not as conveniently). Currently the Summary page is having issues (unrelated to your problem, I think -- auction countdowns are no longer appearing, just showing the unhelpful text "Time Left"), so if the Summary is your eBay landing page, perhaps consider changing to your Watch List, Bids/Offers, Purchase History or Selling page if any of those are loading faster.

If the problem is related to an extension conflict, opening eBay in a "Guest Window" (the Chrome equivalent of Firefox's "Open in a Private Window") might work. If so, try disabling individual extensions and see if that improves your eBay performance when not in "Guest Window" mode.

Check Google Chrome for updates: Click on the 3 dots in the corner and then click on Help then click on About Google Chrome and see if it will check for updates. Sometimes it takes a couple times doing this to update. But this might be the problem. Many technical issues can be from not updated software. By using CCleaner to clean out the garbage on your devices. CCleaner is a free software or you can pay for more. The Free works fine and is made by Piriform.
