On macOS, I typically start the app by searching for app name in Spotlight, i.e., Cmd-Space, type "Tun", and usually within 3 letters, Tunnelblick is found.

However, after an app update, there is a `Tunnelblick-old.app` left in the `/Applications` folder, and Spotlight now finds 2 Tunnelblick apps.  And, sometimes, the first selection returned is the old app.

Wonder if there is an option for the updater to NOT leave the old app in the `/Applications` folder, and simply put it in the trash.

I don't understand why the old app is left there, since every other app I know of will update itself cleanly.

I agree. The next version of Tunnelblick will remove all old copies.

Hey there, I found this thread because on my mac (OS 26.4.1) I have the issue that after updating Tunnelblick, there is always an old version remaining.
I am currently on Tunnelblick 8.0.1 but in the applications there are two additional items: „Tunnelblick-old.app“ and „Tunnelblick.old.app“.
I have not launched them to not confuse the system… but what is the cleanest way to remove them?
Is it safe to just move them to the trash?

Yes, you can just move them to the Trash. They will be cleaned up by Tunnelblick 9.0.
