Waiting for Daemon Process -> Disconnect

Just upgraded to a new computer with a fresh copy of Tunnelblick.  Connecting to the same VPN as I always have.  Tunnelblick says, "Waiting for Daemon Process", for a moment then disconnects.

I first installed and tried using the current stable version of Tunnelblick, but when it started giving me the above problem, I switched to the Beta version (Tunnelblick 3.7.8beta01 (build 5160)), and there's no change, same issue is happening.

I'm running MacOS Mojave (12.14).  Any suggestions on why this computer is behaving so differently with the same VPN servers as compared to my last computer (which was running 12.13.something)?

Thoughts or suggestions on how to go about figuring this out or fixing it?

Thanks for providing the diagnostic info.

Try removing the configuration file line "dev-type tun". It is not needed anymore. (Or you can insert a "#" character at the start of the line, which will cause OpenVPN to ignore it.)

I assume you have tried quitting Tunnelblick and relaunching it, and restarting your computer. If not, please do so.

If it still isn't working, please post the diagnostic info with "dev-type tun" removed.

Yes, I've tried rebooting after disabling dev-type tun, still didn't work.  Something that I noticed upon a fresh reboot and opening of Tunnelblick is included in the screenshot below where it complains about a file in the /Library/Application Support/Tunnelblick/ being group accessible.  Not sure if that's an issue or not.

There is something very wrong with your installation of Tunnelblick.

I suggest that you uninstall using the instructions at Uninstalling Tunnelblick, then reinstall. Be sure to reinstall by double-clicking, not by dragging to the /Applications folder.
