I am very new to Tunnelblick and the small company I work for uses it to connect remotely to a Filemaker server we have running in the office and the owner keeps having random disconnect issues when trying to work in the databases in Filemaker and then Tunnelblick will reconnect and it just seems to be randomly disconnecting.

I am trying to figure out if there is a log I can view that might give me some idea as to why the connections may be dropping, whether it might the Linux desktop that is running our OpenVPN, or if it is just random network issues.

I am kind of fumbling in the dark here

Thanks for any guidance

Tunnelblick keeps a log of OpenVPN and Tunnelblick actions from when you click "Connect" until a configuration is disconnected.
  1. Click on the Tunnelblick icon in the menu/status bar and then click "VPN Details…". Tunnelblick's VPN Details window will open.
  2. Click the "Configurations" button at the top of the window.
  3. Click to select the configuration that you wish to connect. (You may have only one configuration.)
  4. Click on the "Log" tab on the right side of the window. The log will be displayed.
  5. Click the "Connect" button in the lower-right corner of the window.
  6. You may now minimize the VPN Details window if you wish, or move it out of the way. If you minimized it, you can get to back to its original position by clicking the Tunnelblick icon in the Dock, or by again clicking the Tunnelblick icon in the menu/status bar and clicking and "VPN Details… button.
  7. Wait until the problem happens once or twice.
You can scroll through the log, and/or you can use Command-A to select the entire log, then Command-C to copy it, and then paste it wherever you want.

If you want help interpreting the log, please follow the numbered instructions above, then disconnect the configuration and click the "Copy Diagnostic Info to Clipboard" button on the VPN Details… window and paste into a reply.

Thank you, I will have them grab a log for me there next time they are having issues and reply here with it. I tested the connection from my home last night and was connected for 1.5 hours with zero issues so I am leaning towards their home connection and possible latency issues. Thank you for your help
