Tunnelblick working in Sequoia?

Hi, I just wanted to ask you guys if your VPN is working in MacOS Sequoia before I do the update.

I have a problem with iMessage.  It doesn't send or receive when the VPN is connected.

Everything else seems to work (web, imap, signal, whatsapp & etc).

I VPN to my home network for Adblock purposes via a PiHole.

I changed DNS settings to OpenDNS as a test, with no help.

If I connect from my phone (now iOS 18) using OpenVPN to my home network, that works fine, so it's something about Tunnelblick's configuration.

I've changed the OpenVPN in TunnelBlick, but it's no help.

Tunnelblick 4.0.1 (build 5971)

The second I drop off the VPN, the messages come through.

I just updated to the latest MacOS and it seems like it is working fine

I use OpenVPN with TAP and after upgrade everything still works, just clicked connect and it go.

macOS: Version 15.0

Hello,

I have the same exact issue. iMessage does not work if Tunnelblick is with a VPN on.

If I disable the VPN and wait a few seconds, it starts working.

Is there any fix for this?

If you are having trouble with Messages, are you disabling IPv6? Messages may require it.

My VPN and my ISP do not provide IPv6 at the momment.

It's apparently not just Tunnelblick. Mullvad, for example: Many services don't work in MacOS Sequoia.

May not be related, but there are apparently macOS Firewall Regressions in Sequoia, too.

Turning firewall off does not work.

As this seems to be something related with the firewall or VPN software (network components) is there anything from your side that can be done?

For me Tunnelblick cant establish a working connection at all over Shadowsocks after updating to Sequoia. Shadowsocks itself is fine. I've opened an issue on github with the log attached: https://github.com/Tunnelblick/Tunnelblick/issues/819

Sequoia 15.0.1 is out, and may help. From Apple has released Sequoia 15.0.1 and Safari updates:

• Although Apple remains tight-lipped about exactly what has been fixed in this update, it does admit to… improving “compatibility with third-party security software”. It’s assumed the latter refers to the network problems that have been widely reported.

Sadly, didn't help with my particular issue. I'll try to gather more diagnostic info when I have the time.

I also updated to 15.0.1, and there was no change in behavior. Darn.

It appears that today's 15.1 upgrade fixes the problem I had with the VPN.
