Tunnelblick : issue with scanner HP officejet Pro 9010

Hi,
I can’t use my scanner since I have a new printer HP officejet Pro 9010.
I spent a long time to try all the configurations.
I spoke with an Apple supervisor and he told me, that is the fault of Tunnelblick.
He told me (even if tunnelblick is closed) that the software have created a new directions on the Apple OS of my Mac (10.13.6), and it’s the main reason why my computer can’t reach and communicate with my scanner.
Please could you tell me if it’s right, and how to fix this issue.

What the Apple supervisor told you about Tunnelblick is nonsense, and there is a well-known history of macOS itself, especially updates to macOS, causing problems scanning.

The only things that installing Tunnelblick does that have any systemwide effect when it is not running are:
  • To register the extensions ".tblk" and ".tblkSetup". That tells Finder to use Tunnelblick to open files with those extensions when they are double-clicked.

  • To register the extensions ".ovpn" and ".conf" as an "alternate handler". That tells Finder that files with those extensions can be dropped onto Tunnelblick.

  • To set up a "daemon" which talks only to the Tunnelblick program and executes privileged operations.

  • (On macOS Big Sur only) to install "tun" and/or "tap" kexts, which are inactive when a VPN is not connected.
These have nothing to do with scanners, or even networking, when Tunnelblick is not running.

If you decide to uninstall Tunnelblick to prove to Apple that isn't the problem, please use the latest Tunnelblick beta version, and, on Tunnelblick's Utilities panel, first export your Tunnelblick setup, then uninstall Tunnelblick. You can use the exported data to restore your Tunnelblick setup later after re-installing Tunnelblick. Note that any usernames, passwords, or passphrases you have saved in the Keychain will be lost.
