Your VPN is not provided by Tunnelblick, it is provided by someone else. Tunnelblick is just the free software that many VPN service providers recommend or supply to their customers to connect to their VPN. We do not provide VPN service or VPNs, just software.
You need to contact your VPN service provider. That is the organization which gave you your configuration files, and perhaps a username and password, and to which you may be paying a fee for VPN service. For more information, please see Getting VPN Service [1].
If you don't know who your VPN service provider is, you might be able to get a clue about that by examining your OpenVPN configuration file and looking at the line or lines in it which begins with the word "remote". To examine your OpenVPN configuration file:
- Launch Tunnelblick.
- Click on the Tunnelblick icon in the menu bar, then click on "VPN Details". A new window will appear on your screen.
- Click on the large "Configurations" button at the top of the new window.
- Click on one of the configuration names (there may only be one) on the left side of the window.
- Click on the little button to the right of the "+" and "-" buttons at the bottom of the left side of the window. A menu will appear.
- In the menu, click on "Examine OpenVPN Configuration File.." or "Edit OpenVPN Configuration file..", whichever is available.
- A new window will appear on your screen with the contents of the OpenVPN configuration file.
- Scroll down if necessary to look at a line or lines that start with "remote". If it has a name, that name may remind you of who your VPN service provider is. (For example, if it includes "proton", you probably use Proton VPN.)
Note that there are two other username/password pairs that are sometime associated with Tunnelblick or your VPN:
- Your account on your computer has a username/password, used to install Tunnelblick.
- Your VPN service provider may provide you with a username/password to log into their website; that username/password may be different from the username/password that is used to connect to their VPN.
