Hi,

I am trying to export the Tunnelblick config with all vpn connections from my Macbook Pro to my iMac but after I click export and type the creds nothing happens. I cant see any files saved or offered to be saved. Is the export config file saved someplace automatically by default?

I am on latest stable version 3.8.1 for MacOS.

Thanks,

The "Export Tunnelblick Setup" button should show a spinning "working" graphic while the export is being done. It will create a compressed file on your Desktop, named "Tunneblick Setup [date and time].tar.gz. The file is compressed for easy and fast transfer to another Mac.

On the target Mac, first install Tunnelblick. Then double-click the file, which will expand it into a file named "Tunnelblick Setup [date and time].tblkSetup. Double-click that .tblkSetup file to import the setup.

Ah! Excellent. I did not see the files. They were on my desktop already. Thanks for the tip!

I tested this and it does not work if you have any existing VPN connections in Tunnelblick on the target machine. I will try removing them and then import.

What doesn't work? Can you provide more details about what you expect and what happens?

(For example, are you trying to replace configurations or add new ones?)

The import does not work. After I extract the config file and run it I get a password prompt and nothing gets imported after. I have 3 existing connections on the iMac that I need to import more and after i follow the above instructions nothing happens.

Do the imported configurations have the same names as the existing configurations? In that situation, Tunnelblick replaces the existing configurations with the imported configurations. It doesn't create "new" configurations.

Some are the same yes, but also it will not import the ones that dont exist on the new machine. For e.g I have 16 connections on the Macbook , but I only have 4 connections on the iMac. If the import replaces the existing ones that have the same name the ones that dont exist (12) are not imported,. I will clean up this afternoon and try fresh clean and see what happens. Thanks.

Look in the system log for the time period when you're trying to import:
  1. Open the /Applications/Utilities/Console application.
  2. Select "system.log" in the list on the left.
  3. Type "tunnelblick" in the filter box and press the return key.
  4. Click "Action", then "Clear" to clear the display.
  5. Try the import.
