Can't open TBLK file

I have tried to open a TBLK file and I get this error message:

Ah. So this is on Mavericks. I just verified that my test .tblk installs OK on Mavericks, so it isn't a general problem of not being able to install them.

The first indication of a problem is the "open on /private/var/folders/bn/j4197vls5k9_qf3…" message. What's odd is that I can't find where Tunnelblick can create such a log message! No "open on" string fragment anywhere!

It seems to be complaining that the temporary folder that Tunnelblick wants to copy the configuration into already exists (that is, the /private/var/… folder). That doesn't make a lot of sense, since the folder name is created randomly (I could imagine a collision once in a while, but not every time).

So probably there is something else going on here.

Please post the results of typing the following into Terminal:

cd /Users/daniel/Desktop

ls -a -l -R "VPN Book 1.tblk"

and the contents of the "vpnbook-euro1-tcp80.ovpn" file? (X out any IP addresses or other sensitive info such as inline keys).

Yes, on 10.9, but I did try on two other Macs (one with 10.8.5 and one
with 10.9), with the same results.

Ah. OK. I see the problem. I'll look into why Tunnelblick isn't giving a clear error message for this.

The problem is that a single .tblk can only have one OpenVPN configuration file -- one ".ovpn" or ".conf" file.

If you want to have a single .tblk that installs multiple configurations, you can nest multiple .tblks inside of one .tblk (only one level of nesting, though)

So you can have

ABC.tblk/

     vpnbook-euro1-tcp443.tblk

          vpnbook-euro1-tcp443.ovpn

     vpnbook-euro1-tcp80.tblk

          vpnbook-euro1-tcp80.ovpn

     vpnbook-euro1-udp25000.tblk

          vpnbook-euro1-udp25000.ovpn

     vpnbook-euro1-udp53.tblk

          vpnbook-euro1-udp53.ovpn

and when you double-click on ABC.tblk, it will install all three configurations.

The names of the files inside the inner .tblks do not matter; they are ignored -- only the .ovpn (or .conf) extension is used to tell Tunnelblick that they are configuration files.

Tere was someone who did something similar within the past few months, see Tunnelblick 3.3 Auto install configurations without asking for "all users" or "only me" for each configuration.
