Avformat.dll Audacity

Despitefollowing the instructions and multiple tries, I cannot get Audacity to recognise the avformat.dll file under Edit>Preferences>Libraries or in the Export Audio dialog. See the attached report of a session where I tried to load the dll under Edit>Preferences>Library.

After trying various things without success, I downloaded the FFmpeg zip file from the LAME website ( > FFmpeg for Windows and latest Audacity versions > FFmpeg RECOMMENDED ZIP OPTION: ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.zip), which contains the 32-bit version of avformat-55.dll. After selecting this dll version in Preferences > Libraries, Audacity works as it should.

Errors related to avformat.dll can arise for a few different different reasons. For instance, a faulty application, avformat.dll has been deleted or misplaced, corrupted by malicious software present on your PC or a damaged Windows registry.

In the vast majority of cases, the solution is to properly reinstall avformat.dll on your PC, to the Windows system folder. Alternatively, some programs, notably PC games, require that the DLL file is placed in the game/application installation folder.

edit->preferences->library says FFMPeg libary not found

i used the button to manually locate the avcodec-55.dll and save it.

but I won't take it, no error message, no happy message. just no change.

I restart the app several times, resetting each time the FFMPeg libary to no avail.

I changed Enabled from 0 to 1, it didn't fix the issue,

I did tools-> reset configuration, re-install ffmpeg, it didn't fix the issue,

I deleted audacity portable and installed it again somewhere else, re-install ffmpeg, didn't fix the issue,

I managed to find the sections you talk about and tried to change that Enabled from 0 to 1. With Audacity closed, it kind of does something, Audacity tells me that FFmpeg was previously configured and loaded, but this time it didn't manage to.

Curious thing is I left the audacity.cfg file open in Notepad++ (Portable lol) and it detected that the file was not available anymore, since the moment I opened Audacity, as if Audacity edits it or deletes it, without any Preferences change from my side inside the program. It does it all by itself.

Audacity is a free audio editor that has been around for quite a while. Intel created AI plugins to remove noise, split audio files into tracks (vocals/instruments, vocals/drums/bass/everything-else), transcribe spoken words (maybe even lyrics?) and even remix the audio file.

I tried this out last night and it works great. Using "Amazing Grace" by the Blind Boys of Alabama, I separated the bass and vocals into separate tracks. To my ear, both were perfect. Neither had artifacts from other instruments, the vocals were absolutely clear, the bass didn't have any extraneous notes.

So next I tried "The Power Of The One" by Bootsy Collins. Not as much luck with this one. I think because the bass is run through a number of effects, and the keyboards are also playing bass lines, the AI was having some trouble distinguishing them. But that song has a lot going on in it, so I'm not surprised there was some difficulty.

This was awesome. I got it working. I actually needed to get the latest 64bit ffmpeg 6.1/ avformat-60.dll instead of the ffmpeg for audacity which only goes up to 50 right now. Had to run audacity and administrator as well.

I can hear the bass parts in Plini crystal clear so thats very very very nice.

I think I might even do this for instrumental versions and jam track stuff. I am very impressed with it.

Definitely is going to help me tab out some hard to hear parts but yeah it does kinda fail on 70's and older distorted bass haha.

Fr eine Fortsetzung der Aufnahme klicken Sie erneut auf den roten Aufnahme-Knopf. Audacity fgt die neue Aufnahme nahtlos an die Erste an. Lediglich eine schwarze Linie in der Tonspur weist darauf hin, dass die Aufnahme gestoppt und erneut gestartet worden ist.
