After opening a .bin file Tuner Express asks you to open a handler file. So what is a handler file, and how can we find one?
To understand what a handler file is, it's important to know that the .bin file holds the values stored on that particular EEPROM which the ECU uses. When tuner express opens the bin file there is really no way to tell if it came off an OBD0 honda or a mitsubishi without checking the bin file for different traits.
Because TE is written so it works for multiple vehicles, tuner express uses a "handler" file to define what is seen on the display. Instead of writing everything into the base software, this is written into a separate file that can easily be modified or created for other platforms.
For example if you open an NG64 file, which is OBD0 honda, the "handler file" or definition is located at Tuner Express Files>Release Files - Do Not Modify>0 - Data Definitions>OBD0 non-vtec
