Hi - my beloved PowerShot SX200IS has developed a memory card error. At this point I'm not too concerned about the SanDisk card itself - I will try to reformat it later or get a new one - but I'm desperate to recover the many untransferred images that were on the card. Thanks to all who replied (hm, there were more but now some have vanished) - anyway, after reviewing demos on some of the suggested programs, I didn't feel equal to the task and elected to seek a service do it. My neighborhood camera store successfully recovered my pix and put them on a disc for $30 on the spot - thank you Santa Monica Camera!
I hope you haven't re used it since formatting. If you did that can make it more difficult. Here's the link to a good source for recovery software & I'd start with Recova which has a good reputation for doing it..
We use Recuva - it's pretty easy to use, just find the image(s) that you're wanting to recover and just save it to a place other than the camera card. Just because you think you deleted images from your card, they're not really deleted. Good luck!
If you don't have any sucess with the free programs available Sandisk Rescue Pro can be downloaded for a test & if it finds the missing / damaged files you can then pay the licensing fee & retrieve your photos. I have used Rescue Pro more than once with excellent results. (Bailed out friends & relatives who either pulled the cable out while downloading or who formatted in camera by accident). Rescue Pro found files burried from more than 1 in camera format & reuse. Lexar also has a very good program for this but I don't remember it's name. .
