Hi,

I am new to NSP and would like to know how I can compile the nsp-cvs released in September 2020 on Scientific Linux 6.4 using gtk+-2.0.

I am open to suggestions if I need to change the OS to something else.

Best Regards
Sohaib

Well,  6.4  seams a bit outdated (Mar 28, 2013) and the prefered version is gtk+-3.0 for nsp.
But you can make a try :  use ./configure  and install package until configure is happy (some are mandatory and others are just for extensions).
If you just have gtk+-2.0 you will have to use
./configure --with-gtk2

Hi Syed,

You have not only to install the packages but also the dev packages as an example, for ftw3 you need to install libfftw3-dev

i  libfftw3-dev - Library for computing Fast Fourier Transforms - development

Hi JPC,

Thanks for your input again, I have done that an now nsp seems happy as all the required items are available.

After this, I ran the make command, this gives me an error, unbound module num. Can you advise on this?

Hello Syed,

Which ubuntu are you finally using ?  For Num you have to install the package

     libnum-ocaml-dev

which was remove from ocaml and turned to an additional package in recent ubuntu versions.

This one is not detected by configure

Hi JPC,

I was initially using scientific linux 6.4, and was having issues in getting all the libs installed. I then moved to Centos 6.10. I managed to install most of the libs but when I ran the make command, I ran into a problem with a rectangle function (I can't recall the full name) missing in the cario.h file. I did some research and then managed to do a comparison of a centos vs ubuntu cario.h and found them to be different. Then ubuntu cario.h file had the rectangle function needed by NSP. I then decided to move to an Ubuntu based distribution.

Now I am using PopOS 20.04 LTS.

Hi Sohaib,
Fine. Let me know if  libnum-ocaml-dev  was enough to enable you to finish the compilation
