I used git to download the source and after a lot of filling in blanks
via Synaptic it compiles and runs; with a small number of warnings/
errors.
The only problem was that I had to search config.log over and over to
find the missing packages. They don't get reported distinctly.
still missing "cannot find" in config.log:
f77lapack but I think lapack was filled in
elsewhere; I certainly tried.
gtkhtml-2 This doesn't seem to be in the standard
squeeze packages. Didn't effect my testing.
If anybody wants to try it; just tell me how to make a .deb package
that has the proper dependencies.
A very few of the demos give unexpected results.
The src/doc subdirectory didn't get made; but this is probably some
flag.
