Hello!

Ok so we have came up with 2 locations we have to make a decision on
Hardesty Library or the Shusterman-Benson Library. Let's get this
moving along.

As Jasmine stated, we will need to submit a form. I am assuming this is
the same for Hardesty Library.

So what does everyone think, Hardesty or Shusterman-Benson? Who will
take care of the form submission?

Also, what days work well for everyone to meet?

Our meetings in Joplin are held on the first and third Monday's of every
month @ 7pm for example. A recurring time is easy for members and
potential members to remember.

Let's get a place, date&time, and get crackin'!

Kelly Maddy

I like both locations but just trying to make a decsion I would say the Shusterman-Benson Library just because it is centeralized. I think the first Monday of each month sounds good. and maybe if things start turning out doing a 2nd meeting each month. and 7 sounds like a perfect time.

I would prefer the Hardesty Library. First Monday of every month
would work out great and 7 seems like a good time

Well, I cant drive, and dont have a car, so I live very near the Shusterman-Benson. I will take care of the forms and have it filled out today. I will fill it out to be on 1st, 3rd mondays of the month at 6 or 7. The library closes at 8.
I know I am probably the only person who doesn't drive, but um, if everyone lives closer to the Shusterman then it is a good idea, Id assume. I am sorry if I cant make it to the Hardesty, I would if I could.
but um, we should have the minutes of the meeting available to those who can't make it.

thanks.
I was hoping to discuss, how we can prove that Hemp is so SUPER-GREEN, that if we industrialize hemp, we won;'t have to deal with plastic, as Hemp is more biogradable, and is the best fuel there is, and will Feed starving children in third-world countries. The Hemp Seed is high in protien and millions of children die each day, and we can prevent all those deaths by industrializing hemp and feeding everyone hemp seeds. Hemp will save planet earth. It is a gift to us. We must prove and spread the word of how Green Hemp is and how it will save planet earth. We must prove to all the familes and mothers as everyone seems to think Hemp is bad and Tobacco is not. Tobacco killed 5 Million people last year, and Ganja killed not one person.

Hey James,
Thanks for stepping up to do this.  However, let's wait until the ones that have weighed in so far gets to weigh in about this decision.  Just to make sure we have a good consensus and everyone understands definitively when/where you all will be meeting.

The Schusterman-Bensons' library meeting room is kind of a hit and
miss. Some first Mondays' are taken, others are not. We could still
have the meeting here but it might not be consistent. However it is
centrally located. It is up to everyone to voice their opinion, just
let me know.

I also do not have a car; Shusterman-Benson would be best for me.
Unfortunately for me, the meeting times currently being discussed
would be impossible for me to attend anyhow, due to my work schedule
(my only free evenings are Fridays and Sundays). Hopefully this will
change in the near future, but until then I will probably just have to
keep up with happenings via the online group postings. I'm glad to see
progress being made; Tulsa is long overdue for its own NORML chapter. -

I have the Library Schedule Form for Shusterman-Benson. Shall I fill it out and what time shall it be for?

(I told them we were a green group promoting Greeness, and said the word "Norml' but didnt say anything.. but hey, Ganja will save the world. Ganja is the most Green thing, it is the magic plant that will save the world. The Hemp seed will feed millions of starving kids in Third World Countries.
"The leaf of the tree healeth the nations"- Revelations.
Perhaps this leaf of a tree is a new strain of Ganja???
"Partake of the Good Herb" -Jesus. I am sure we know what Jesus is talking about.

haha.

I am in this same situation as to not having a car.
One of the reason is to be Green.
The others is because I can't drive and don't want to hurt others in an accident.

I believe that the most important argument we have for Norml, for the legalization of Ganja is that Ganja can save millions and millions of lives by feeding people the hemp seeds in starving third world countries. There is nothing more GREEEN than to Industrialize Hemp.

i was thinking, we could have two different meeting locations. Because Shusterman-Benson is MidTulsa, its the best location for Tulsa, and then the Hardesty (is that the one way down at 91st?) is the other location, for people who live way south and Broken Arrow.

This way, we can have two different locations for everyone.
One for the first monday or whatever day of the first week of the month
and one for whatever day of the third week of the month.
How does that sound?
Those who need to catch up from any missed meetings could read the minutes from a xerox or a forum we might have. I believe that having two different locations is the best way to go.

I already filled out a form for the Hardesty Library for the 3rd
Monday of each month and they should reply
back soon (or so they said). If you could find a day that we can
consistently use for the first week of each month at the Schusterman-
Benson Library that would work. Once we figure out the days we will be
able to start actually meeting.

thank you. I shall attend the library today and return in my filled out form and see what day we get on the first week of the month. What time of day? 6 or 7? What is the best day of the week? monday? wednesday?

well I am glad this is working out. I think having two different locations is more democratic and works out for us. Thank you.

the shusterman library is located between 36th and 31st on Havard Street, on the east side of Havard. You can see a sign showing "Public Library" on that side of the street.

I dont really know where Hardesty or whatever the other location is, like is that 91st? I don't drive, so I dont always get around.

I am glad you want to make it to the meeting. I dont know when we are giong to have a meeting. I am hoping the Shusterman Librarian is going to email our President and give us a schedule date.

I filled out a form to shusterman and so far I have not recieved an email. I made it known to them that they should contact the President and gave them the Email of the President. I also told them that the meeting was for an Ecological Green Society, and its true though- nothing is more green than the industrialization of Hemp. Nothing can't be greener than that so I was being truthful in a way.. and also discreet as well.

However, I shall inquire again. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hey guys,

Be sure not to be discreet. There is nothing to hide and nothing wrong about saying who you are reserving the room for.  "We are NORML. Our group aims to eliminate marijuana laws."

Libraries are tax funded and can't discriminate against groups they don't like.

Third Wednesday of each month sounds good @ Hardesty.  Now is the time to let people know about it.  I will start a myspace and list the meeting date and add lots of Tulsa people.

Let me know when we get shusterman firmed up.  I suggest resubmitting the application with NORML on it.  There is no reason whatsoever to be discreet.

you are right about not having to be discreet in the first place. I just well, I just wanted to secure a room and I get the impression, since they dont allow people to look at Myspace because of all the sexy pictures of girls posted on MySpace, they deem beautiful women in scantily clad garb offensive. What kind of a society that we live in that would think beautiful women are offensive? What kind of a society that allows tobacco to kill 5,000,000 million people in the year 2007 and pot kills none? What kind of a society that thinks drinking is ok when so many people die from alcohol (half a milloin per year is the usual in USA) and pot kills none?
I say we must inform the American people about our right to smoke ganja and not smoke/drink death.
IT was a long time ago, when Colonial America actually had laws that if you didn't grow pot, you would be in trouble with the law. Many a settler had to grow pot for hemp and industrialization in the "unknown histories of America"..

Greeting and salutations!

Hardesty Regional Library:
Let's begin this on the 17th of September at 6:15 pm for the first confirmed
date in the Pecan Room. Please use the time in between now and then to do a
sort of recruting of the mastermind of some individuals who you know can
make the meetings and do some field work.

Schusterman-Benson Library:
I contacted them today to confirm a scheduled time, and it looks as if they
are completely booked until October unless we do the meetings midday. We
can either schedule it for early afternoon or maybe find another location
close by to start off until we can schedule a meeting room there. Does
anyone have any alternatives or suggestions?

How does everyone feel about having an initial meet and greet sometime
before September to touch base and discuss what we need to do to get things
rolling before the meetings?

Hope all is well with everyone, and if you have a MySpace account, check out
http://www.myspace.com/tulsa_norml and add Tulsa NORML as your friend and
spread the word! I look forward to meeting everyone! More to come soon,
take care!

Meeting for MidTulsa:
Well, if the nighttime schedule for Shusterman-Benson is filled, why not just use the park? Whiteside park on the north side of 41st between Havard and Yale is a good place. The weather is still nice right now, and should be comforatable for a few months, so there is a roofed canopy and benches near the Tennis Court where is a perfect place for a metting, rain or shine. This would give us the benefits of a Norml meeting that we couldnt have indoors. Right? hahahha.

"This would give us the benefits of a Norml meeting that we couldnt have indoors. Right? hahahha"

Absolutely not.  While we of course advocate a change in law to stop arresting adults who use marijuana responsibly we in by no means advocate for the use of marijuana.  That is something us as members need to keep in a private setting and certainly not something we do at meetings that are open to the public.

Don't take this personal, but it is important we remain professional.  Remember, we are trying to change the law, not break it.

Rain or heat could damper our day if we have literature on a table or possibly a laptop setup, I believe we would be best suited to be indoors somewhere nearby just so we know for sure.  Also, this will keep people from coming to the meetings and doing irresponsible things in public.  Its easier to keep the focus of a crowd inside.

I know I suggested the outside of the park, at Whiteside at 41st between Havard and Yale, in the benched shelter, but I think inside the recreational center would work, because it is open to the public to do basketball and all kinds of sports, and they have many rooms in there, like, a gynmnast room, a dance room, and many meeting rooms. It may be actually very possible that they will allow us to have a meeting there just as they allow people to come in and play basketball. Some rooms are scheduled for events and you usually sign in on a sheet. I used to go in there during winter to work out and do my martial arts in the dance room, and no one was using it, as I do my martial arts oustide since I no longer go to my dojo as its too far away and time consuming to ride the bus there and run home 10 miles.

So, this means we can use the Recreational Facilities for our meeting purposes at Whiteside at 41st between Havard and Yale. Why Not?

well, the dance room has many a stacked chair, and there is also meeting rooms as well. In fact, it's really perfect. The recreation center is there to serve the public just as well as the library is. I mean, for example, if the elderly ladies were having an arts and crafts meeting, would you or I walk in to interrupt their meetings at the library? I think Not. Same with our meetings, people will simply ignore us as we discuss making America a better place. I will go there tommorow if they are open and ask and schedule for one of the days on 7pm (depending on when they close but I think they close at 9pm or even later)
for the first weeks of the month. cool. As for fitting any size of the crowd, its as big as the meeting rooms at the library.

I contacted Whiteside Park and they mentioned they typically charge $25 per hour for meetings rooms and we'd only need to schedule around a few things like arts and crafts.  We might be able to work around costs, though we really should try to find an alternative in case theres a conflict of any sorts.  Any suggestions before we signup to this spot temporarily?  Keep your eyes and ears peeled.
