Hey TSCers,

Here’s a stellar volunteer opportunity! Boston Area Gleaners is a non-profit based in the greater Boston area that does food rescue on farms in Massachusetts and brings it to local food banks and pantries in the Boston area. You can check them out at this link: http://www.bostonareagleaners.org/. They are currently doing a last push for the season to try and get as much produce as possible before the ground freezes. They are working to gather 10 tons of food over the next 10 days — which is a lot of food! Trips will be going out every day this week, which you can sign up for here. Currently, trips Monday-Wednesday are posted but more will come out as it gets closer.

What a trip looks like:
  • Arrive at Alewife Reserve for carpooling to the farm either at 9am or 10am. (This is right off of the Commuter Bike path and behind Alewife T stop)
  • Meet Dylan or Matt (all-star coordinators — make fun of both of them).
  • Pick vegetables on a beautiful farm until around 1pm.
  • Return to Tufts with some gleaned vegetables!

If you have any questions, please contact Emma Arnesty-Good at emma.arn...@tufts.edu or 415-637-0420. Tell all your friends!
