Subject: Announcing the Healey School "Shared Spaces Action Team"
Dear Healey Community,
The Healey School Site Council has recently created a “Shared Spaces Action Team,” and I am writing to invite interested community members to a kick-off meeting this coming Thursday, April 17. The meeting will be held in Room 117 at the school, from 6:00-7:00PM.
An "Action Team" is a group of teachers and parents working together to do something good for the Healey School. The goal of the Shared Spaces Action Team (SSAT) is to maximize the potential for educational and social opportunities in all of the shared spaces of the Healey campus, both inside and out.
The SSAT hopes to achieve this through two distinct, but related, approaches:
1. By working with the School Site Council and community members to maintain and support activities and initiatives that are already ongoing in these areas, such as the Healey Community Garden; and
2. By building momentum for the establishment of new activities and initiatives, many of which have been discussed by Healey community members in recent years. These include the possible expansion of the playground into the adjacent “wooded lot,” the de-paving of some of the outdoor play areas, the installation of acoustical treatments in the “cafetorium,” etc.
At Thursday’s meeting, we will talk more specifically about opportunities for the community to participate in any of these activities - starting with some gardening that we have planned for school vacation week!
If you have any questions, or if you can’t come but would like to offer some ideas, please feel free to email me at josh....@gmail.com.
Happy Spring!
