Quebec student strike:
University students in Quebec have organized a
massive student and social movement over the last several months
opposing a provincial plan to raise tuition fees. The students have
waged a struggle for free education and in opposition to planned austerity
plans. The students have been successful in garnering support and
effectively shutting down many university campuses. After students
rejected an inadequate proposal by the government, the statist response
has now been to escalate its attack against this massive social
movement. In the last week, state violence and mass arrests has
increase. Please come out to show your support for the student struggle
in Quebec and connect this to the much needed student movement in the
U.S.
Mexican student protests:
The purpose of the Mexican
student movement is to get reliable sources of information with respect
to politics and economics. The corporate and state media is slating the
PRI, Institutional Revolutionary Party, to become the new government– a
government whose authoritarian rule governed for over 70 years,
strengthened imperial ties with the US, increased corruption and
censorship.
Students of the Ibero-American University started a
movement completely organized by social media when Enrique Peña Nieto
visited their university. The have reason to believe the media is
helping to rig the upcoming election and censor their protests. The
return of this party is inevitable without contest from students and
workers. The #yosoy132 campaign has already opened a political space.
Solidarity is much needed from students and workers from around the
world.
