Hi again,
So only one of 6 people responded saying they could make the meeting today, and the other 5 preferred to reschedule. Expect an email either later today or tomorrow with a poll so we can schedule the next meeting. Our options will likely be 4:30 Monday, May 2, or lunchtime Tuesday or Wednesday (free pizza!).

See you soon,
Shilpa

Hi all,
So we scheduled a reading group meeting for tomorrow (Monday, April 25th) at 4:30 to discuss "Generation scavenging: A non-disruptive high performance storage reclamation algorithm" by Ungar (1984) [Link: http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=390010.808261 ]. However, we just realized that the Richard E. Snyder lecture is also tomorrow at 4:30 - see the forwarded email below. Constantin definitely wants to attend, and some of you might also be interested.

Please respond if you will still be on for the reading group meeting tomorrow at 4:30 to discuss the Ungar paper, or whether you would prefer to reschedule. I'll still be able to meet tomorrow if enough people are interested, or we can reschedule to meet next Monday, May 2 (last day of classes), or during reading period if there's interest in that.

I'll send a confirmation email as to whether the meeting is still on by tomorrow at noon, so let me know before then if you will or will not be attending! Thanks a bunch.

Shilpa

Dear Students:

I am pleased to announce the Spring, 2011 Richard E. Snyder President's Lecture.  Next  Monday, April 25, noted journalist Bob Woodward will be delivering a lecture "From Nixon to Obama."  The lecture will run from 4:30-6:00 P.M. in Cohen Auditorium.  A reception will follow in Alumnae Lounge.

Bob Woodward, America's preeminent investigative reporter, is perhaps best known for his work with Carl Bernstein on the Watergate scandal. Their account of Watergate in All the President's Men was made into an Academy Award winning film starring Robert Redford as Mr. Woodward.  Mr. Woodward is the author or co-author of 12 other books, among them The Brethren, an inside account of the workings of the Supreme Court, and the recent Obama's Wars, an original account of President Obama and his team in this time of turmoil and uncertainty.

The Snyder President's Lecture Series brings prominent intellectual, social, and political figures to campus as guest speakers to present provocative points of view on issues of national or international significance.

The lecture is free, but tickets are required.  These tickets are now available on a first-come, first-served basis at the front desk at Dowling Hall.  I hope to see you there.

Please note that in honor of Mr. Woodward's visit, Tufts Film Series will be showing All the President's Men on Thursday, April 21 at 7:00 P.M. in Barnum Hall.

Sincerely,

James M. Glaser
Dean of Academic Affairs for Arts and Sciences
