footnotes AND sidetones

Hi, 

I was wondering if it is possible to have both footnotes and sidetones in tufte-book (I realize this was probably anathema to Tufte, but I find it appealing - and so did typesetters of latin poems until the 1800s, I have some Aeneids with a syntactical permutation of the words as sidenotes to make the text accessible, as well as true footnotes). I tried messing around with the .def file but did not succeed.
