The English word "Kung fu" came from a Chinese word "gong fu".
Whenever we talk about Kung fu, we'll think of China-the source of
Kung fu.
Kung fu is a general term. Actually it includes different branches
such as Taiji Quan, Yongchun Quan and so forth.
Since the late 1920s when the first sound film has been made, kung fu
has played a more and more important role in many kinds of films. Our
first Chinese Kung fu film star was Li Xiaolong (Bruce Lee), who was
really famous in Asia and America. But unluckily he was shot at the
age of 33. He is sure to be the most important person in China's Kung
fu film history.
Then follows the present world famous kung fu star Cheng Long (Jackie
Chan). In my opinion, Cheng is more successful compared with Li
Xiaolong for he cares not only his film career but also the word's
serious problems. Every kind job he has done really did great help to
those people in poverty or in bad health.
There are still two China's most famous Kung fu stars active on the
screen-Li Lianjie from Beijing and Zhou Xingchi from Hong Kong. And
Zhou's recent movie for greeting the new year Kung fu really shows his
wonderful action. You just look at the person in the cinema: they all
rough into laughter during the film!
Now Kung fu is on show around China. Why not go and enjoy ourselves,
both in the film and the great Chinese Kung fu!
