Hilary is going to take the lead at Lake Merritt for me this week .. She asks that you meet up in the “point near the Boat House parking lot. The lot will be closed but there is plenty of street parking.”

Key word missing here: it's the rocky point near the parking lot. That is, when you get to the lot, look toward the lake and you'll see a bunch of rocks on a sort of stubby peninsula along the lake shore.
