Hello Brothers and Sisters!
Wanted to get a quick shout out to let everyone know that we’re going to start up home group again this week (Thurs, 22 Sep) at the Webers’ house. We’re going to meet on Thursday nights this fall at our normal start time of 7pm (sorry for the change of days!)
This week is a bbq/potluck (bring your own meat to grill) starting earlier at 6:30pm; we’ll be around the firepit outside, at least starting out. Hopefully we can save a little time at the end for prayer and a discussion of what we want to study together this fall/year (so please give that some thought and prayer).
We’ve missed getting together with you all (and we’ll all definitely be missing you, Anh and Natasha, if you happen to still be in this email group!!), and hope you all can make it this Thursday. Spread the word to other folks in church you think might be interested – everyone’s invited!
Phil and Tara
Alicia – sorry to hear you can’t make Thursdays because we’ll miss having you. But awesome that you’re starting a Tuesday night group! See you at ICA!
Hello Everyone – hope you all are having a good week. I just have a couple of things to pass along to you:
- Most importantly, I’m asking that you’ll pray for my Mom, who was taken to the hospital on Sunday with high blood pressure and memory loss. We hope that she’ll be released to go home after testing is completed today, but we’re still not sure. Scary for both her and my Dad.
- Secondly, after some studying this week, we’ve decided to start with 1 Peter for our study together (sorry to all you 1 John voters – maybe next time!). So, I encourage you in the next day or so, as you have time, to read some (or all, even – it’s fairly short) of 1 Peter.
Tara and I are looking forward to spending time with you all and studying and praying together this Thursday! Also, please remember we’ll start at 7pm this time…
God bless,
Phil

Thanks for your prayers. Mom is now at home resting – diagnosis was Transient Global Amnesia, which is quite a strange thing, really, but apparently relatively benign. So we’re thankful for that. Thank you all again for your prayers!

We'll be in prayer for your mother. She is in very good hands.
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Please keep Samuel and Candace in your prayers. Candace has recently been placed on “bed rest” due to some concerns with her pregnancy. She and the baby are healthy now, so please pray that God protects them and gives strength.
Hope you all are having a good week. Thanks for praying for each other.
See you Thursday!
Samuel fell and broke his collar bone this afternoon. Please be praying for us. Thanks- Phil and Tara

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I hope you’re all having a great week. One thing I didn’t emphasize this past Thursday that I probably should have: I think one of the reasons Peter wrote those verses (8,9) was as an encouragement to those believers. Somebody else may have mentioned it, but I wanted to remind you again now – be encouraged! Because he would say the same thing to our group: you love Him, believe Him, and are rejoicing … and this because you are receiving from God the end goal of your faith – the salvation of your soul. Thank you for your encouragement – I look forward to getting together with you all on Thursdays.
Since we didn’t get a chance to spend a lot of time mentioning prayer requests and praying for everyone, I thought I’d remind you of some prayer requests. If I’ve inadvertently missed something that you’d like us to pray about, please reply with that request.
- Karen, Eloise, Cordula, Kristi, and Logan (Steve and Kristi’s oldest son) for health and healing;
- Nicholas and Karen’s school, and friend at school (Wayne);
- Tonia’s Dad, that he would come to know Jesus;
- Marcus and Helen, for strength and grace in relating to Sasha;
- Andre, for wisdom for a work decision and for God’s protection;
- Phil, for encouragement and wisdom;
- Marianna, for wisdom about work and ministry;
- Mark, for strength, wisdom, and encouragement during various trials.
Thank you for lifting each other up in prayer.
God bless you, and I’ll see you on Thursday!
Phil
Hi friends,
Just a reminder that we will not be meeting tonight as it is the Americans’ Thanksgiving celebration and we’ll be stuffing ourselves with traditional fare. Have a blessed week and we’ll see you on December 1 @ 7 p.m.!
Thankful for you-

Tara, thank you for this blessing. Can I please add to it?
Dear Brothers and Sisters!
Hello! I hope each of you had a nice time celebrating Christmas, the New Year, and then Christmas again. We’re looking forward to getting together with you all this Thursday night, 12 January, when we’ll be continuing our study of I Peter (I Peter 2:4-6 for those that like to read ahead), and also fellowshipping in our accountability groups.
I’d like to suggest trying to get going a bit earlier than 7:30pm with the actual study itself (7:15pm ?), so that we can really try and finish by 9pm for those that have to be somewhere. (And those of us that don’t could stay afterwards for more fellowship until the Webers kick us out!) Let me know what you think.
Also, remember that I’ve been encouraging you to try your hand at establishing – in your own words – a 1 or 2 sentence ‘theme’ for I Peter. Keep working on that; I’ll be asking for suggestions in two weeks time.
Lastly, just wanted to say that Tara and I appreciate your fellowship and prayers every week – you have truly been a blessing to us.
See you Thursday!
Phil
Hello Dear Sisters and Brothers!
Just a reminder that we’ll be meeting at our place this week, and NOT at the Weber’s. Our address here is Blvd Lesi Ukrainky, 30Б, Apt 16 (Fourth floor). I’ll attempt to send another message with a map attached. Call me if you get lost: +380-50-330-0206. Same start time of 7pm – hope to see you all this Thursday!
God bless you,
Phil
Dear Brothers and Sisters!
Tomorrow, May 17, will be our last evening in I Peter. I think the actual study will be fairly short, so please take some time to think about something God has shown you through our study in this book and consider sharing with the group. It’s encouraging to hear what God is doing in each others’ lives!
Next Thursday, May 24, we will have our final gathering at the Webers’ home for this season. This will be a potluck meal outside (weather permitting). Please bring your own meat (the grill will be going) and a side dish or dessert to share with the rest of the group.
God bless you, and we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
Phil and Tara
Hi friends!
We’ll be meeting one last time before the summer break this Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. Note the time change! Please bring your own meat; the grill will be going so you can cook it there or if you prefer to bring something precooked, feel free to do so. Additionally, bring a drink, a side dish, or a dessert to share with the rest of the group. If you could take a minute and hit “reply all” to this e-mail to let us know what you plan on bringing, that would help us make sure we have variety.
See you Thursday!
Phil and Tara
We’ll have drinks, a side dish and a dessert. Phil& Tara
Dear Sisters and Brothers!
I’m writing with some more information on the impromptu announcement I made last week about the possibility of continuing to get together for a few weeks for some study on: 1) How to study the Word, and 2) How to teach the Word (I believe they’re closely related).
So, for all those interested, let’s meet this Thursday at 7pm at the Geelhood home (Blvd Lesi Ukrainky, 30Б, 4th floor, Apt 16). We’ll be looking at 2 Peter 1:1-2; please study those verses yourself before Thursday. We’ll go through the steps of an inductive Bible study together, and then I’ll explain how I plan a lesson based on the Bible study.
Here’s the hard part: I’ll be asking for a volunteer to lead the study the next week (continuing in 2 Peter). After all, the best way to learn how to teach (and to discover that you have the spiritual gift of teaching!) is to actually practice doing so in a safe environment. Be praying about that.
Just to be clear, this won’t be simply a continuation of our normal home group; we probably will not spend as much time in fellowship or prayer – our goal will be slightly different as I’ve outlined above. We’ll get started studying shortly after 7pm, so please don’t be too late!
God bless you!
Phil
P.S. (Lesya, please pass along to Tania – I’m not sure if she’s on the distro list or not and I seem to have lost her email. Denis, please pass along to Oleg – I don’t have his email.)
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Just a reminder that this week we’ll be meeting on WEDNESDAY NIGHT, 20 June, at Nicholas and Karen Beard’s home. They’re at 10 Druzhby Narodiv, Apt 84 (Code: #1768). Hope to see you there!
Also, I’ve attached the handout from a few weeks’ ago.
God bless you,
Phil
