Tera Term (or TeraTerm) is a free and open source terminal emulation application which can function as a telnet or SSH client. The application features support for a number of terminal types from DEC VT100 to DEC VT382. Simply setup a host by inputting a remote address, port number and optional commands to perform when connecting to a host. It works as a nice alternative to PuTTY.The setup of this client include a number of options that may be configured like installation of TTSSH, CygTerm, LogMeTT, TTLEdit, TTProxy, etc. A number of plugins can also be used when installing Term Term.Options for the SSH/Telnet client include terminal setup (selection of terminal emulation, terminal size, answerback, etc.), SSH authentication options including cipher control, general TCP/IP settings and more. These options can be saved for future settings as an INI file.In conclusion, Tera Term is a simple and straightforward client that can connect to a number of different hosts that includes options to customize terminal emulation with different encryption options.Features of Tera Term
Hello,I'm still fairly new to working with mbed. I was working the last couple months with Windows XP OS and my terminal application TeraTerm was working with no issue. Today I moved to Windows 7 and tried installing TeraTerm. Am I correct that there isn't a version available for W7?
Here's a list of the things I've tried.1. Attempted install by double clicking directly teraterm471.exe2. Right click and attempted install under local admin3. Changed default destination location from [C:\Program Files (x86)\teraterm] to [C:\Program Files\teraterm]. I'm running Win 7 64 bit.4. Attempted the standard setup installation and then the compact setup installation
After selecting the TeraTerm install completed with no further error messages.I hooked up my mbed and opened up a Terminal session. I selected the radio button and then looked in the drop down box for the , but it does not appear. When I was using TeraTerm on my last machine I vaguely remember having to go into Computer Management => Device Manager => Ports to do something, but I don't remember what that was.
I don't seem to have the radio button and I have to know in advance which COM port is connected to the MBED. As I usually have several serial ports open a one time, with varying baud rates, it sometimes gets confusing.
Is TeraTerm the most accepted/widely used terminal emulator? My system is Windows 7 pro x64 bit core i7 and I'm keen to use a terminal for display.Incidentally, anyone any experience using Linux Mint14 I'd like to use that on my other laptop, I only use Windows recently as I need it for Autocad work.As Linux still has a 'proper' terminal mode would the set be the same?
I've used Linux for years, but most of my time is in Windows due to tools I use that are WIndows-only or require MS Office. The other day I ran the latest Linux Mint in the free VM software from Sun/Oracle. It's OK.
Thanks for that I'll have a look at whats available for terminal emulators.Regarding VM software I originally loaded Mint13 then used VM to load Windows 7 but was disappointed with the screen handling when using Windows 7 on my laptop so reverted back to full blown Windows 7.
Respected sir/madam , Am using teraterminal-4.88 . but it take any charater but it was not visible on terminal window and it receiving character but not displaying on terminal window. what i shoud do please do the needful.
Being a tech professional I would like to say that Tera Term is an open source , free, software implemented , terminal emulator program. It emulates different types of company terminals . It supports telnet SSH and serial port connections. Actually when I was working on it I got a massage written as error code 0x4004f00d . If you feel the same you can have a look on it. I found it very relevant .

I am trying to write something using printf with STM32-nucleo-h743zi board, windows 10. I can run programs that make a led turn on, and make connections via uart and all the things, but when i open tera term or Putty, i can not see any word in there.. I link my nucleo with other stm32 chip to do other stuff and it works via uart, but nothing about writing in Tera term or Putty.
Well, you haven't posted an IOC file, so you can't see where the error might lie.
By the way, you can also insert source code instead of screenshots if you click on the three dots in the text field at the top right and select .
I have thrown your three lines of code into an otherwise empty project for a NUCLEO-F767ZI as a test - it works, both with Teraterm and other terminal programs if you have selected the correct port (STMicreoelectronics STLink Virtual COM Port):
Sorry, i'm starting in here, i am not familiarized with these things. I am not sure if i can upload a project, but i will do it. I am not able to find the error, i think it is something about knowledge but i cant fix it...
@Peter BENSCH the "insert source code" thingy should be in the first line in a forum where lots of code is posted, that's really annoying that it isn't. Especially the new people here never find this...
Could you please foward that?!
To test the set-up I sent the hex value 0X6E at a n interval of sec and I received the character "n" on my Tera Term software. I understand that n is the equivalent char value of 0x6E but I need the software to display binary value instead of char value.
Thanks for your tip, I tried the Debug mode and was able to see the binary values on tera term. But its kind of annoying to shift to debug mode every time and the debug windows looks a bit messed up on terra term.
I am not sure which operating system you are using, but if you are using windows there are lots of options available. The best one that I have com across is "Serial Port Monitor by Eltima". It can show you the data in binary, ASCII, Hex, Decimal and Char format, also can log the data so that we can analyze it in future. But it is not free and has limited trial pack.
For Windows-10 anyhow, I had to press Shift+Escape key sequence to toggle mode.
However, it is the best just to reconfigure the Setup.INI file to keep it in that mode if you want to reopen TeraTerm application into the mode already.

I am not familiar with putty as a console terminal.
I am using linux, but on windows, I used to like the terminal software called Tera Term (open source)

after each command you need to send a CR (carriage return) + LF (line feed). This is why you have the \r\n at the end of the example.
The way to enter the CR + LF depends on the software you use as a terminal. You can usually configure your software to automatically send CR + LF when you press enter.
I think the correct value for your device should be the one on your sticker.
But the most important is that the dev eui that you are setting on your device matches the one you have entered on TTN when you registered the device.
The module I received was delivered with firmware version 1.1.6 which use one set of AT command
