Why does quick adding tasks start my tags with @?

Hello all,

When I quick-add a task (ctrl+windows+n) and add a task with the @
sign, the tag I add (or the first tag in a comma separated list) is
always prefaced with "@". I then have to go back and remove that,
which is tedious.

I read on an early message that you can use {} for tag support as
well, but then I've got a few more keys to press and the fewer the
better when I am entering multiple tasks.

Anyone know why the first tag is prefixed with "@"?

I'm not following you. If you prefix a tag with @, all
comma-separated values after should become tags as well. If you don't
have an @ it won't know to make it a tag, unless there's a bug/feature
I've forgotten about. Do you want to create a set of tags without
using either @ or { and }? If so, what would identify them as tags?

Regards,
Richard

It's strange - but here's an example where I add a task through the
quick add method:

Remember to wash the walrus @personal, important

The action "Remember to wash the walrus" is found at the top of Tudumo
when I open it up. It contains two tags: "@personal" and
"important". I would have expected the first tag to be simply
"personal" but it comes across as "@personal".

Does that make more sense?

Ah, ok. Yes, the @ is generally used for a "context" in GTD, e.g.
@home, @work, @online - meaning the place you need to be to perform
that action. When you get to work, you filter on @work and you get
all work actions. In this case it's not just a prefix that should be
stripped away, it's useful to keep the full context name. In your
case you want non-@ tags, so really the only way currently is to use
the { and }.

Have many others had the same issue?

I see now. I haven't implemented the context of @location. I work at
home often and have a few laptops and cell phones that I am toggling
to continuously. There's no real dedicated time I spend "at home",
"at computer", "at phone". It all blends together for me. The
context system was conceived a while ago. I think it is compromised
now by prevalence of mobile access points (cell phones, iphones, wi-
fi, etc).

Thanks!

I don't use quick-add, so I haven't had exactly this issue, but I don't use "@" in my tags either, and I would find it awkward to have to type "{tag}" - I think because of having to press (and release) shift twice, and because } is quite far from the resting position on the keyboard.

I am struggling too with the quick add windows and tags.

Can anyone tell me what to type exactly in the quick add window to
enter a task TEST with 3 tags @home @call @personnal ?

Many thanks,

Eric.

That's an excellent question - looks like a bug! I'll take a look at the code.
