Hi,

Having about 180-190 open tasks in Tudumo, it suffocates my Windows XP
by reserving some 1.700 GDI handles. At some point other applications
cannot be opened anymore or quit unexpectedly.

Is this issue on the agenda for improvement in near future? This is a
crucial factor for my buying decision which I have to make in the
coming week.

Thanks,
Illya

Hi Illya,

Thanks - that's a very good pointer and an extra axis for me to
profile against. I'll definitely work on it but the timeline will
depend on how easy it is to sort out.

FYI, the app creates views as needed, but keeps them around for speed
reasons. A fairly quick fix would be to drop them after a short
period of non-use. There are harder changes - like combining controls
- that could take a bit longer.

Regards,
Richard

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your reply. For now I had to use
http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=238&pgno=1 , though
it's unlikely to be a solution for most users.

I'm not that familiar with programming at .net, but probably it's
worth considering a single gdi pane and all controls as objects
drawing there and negotiating drawing position between themselves.

Further, I noticed that while filtering by 'Today and overdue' the
window contents is distorted at 0:00 as new tasks come by.

And last but not least, I have to constantly modify filtering options,
it would be very timesavy to be able to create 'preset view profiles',
i.e. combination of filtering settings that can be activated easily
(for example, by tabs). On the other hand, replacing the dropdowns of
time and task status filters by single-click controls would be also
welcome (as selecting an option from dropdown control requires 2
clicks + time to orient at the menu that is shown only after the first
click).

It's not really worth it just yet :) I'm already doing a fair amount
of custom drawing and I add items as I see they're taking up too many
resources, but I won't strip out all controls just yet - rather
iterate towards that. I spent ages tweaking stuff most users didn't
see which meant features fell by the wayside, so I have to find a
balance somewhere in the middle.

Planned, and I have some code towards that already.

Richard
