The Entrepreneurs Initiative
The Entrepreneurs Initiative is a crash course for business owners on
fundamental legal, tax and accounting issues, which are critical for the
health and success of your business.
Whether you are an early stage entrepreneur or an established business owner,
learn what legal, tax and accounting issues affect your business so you can
avoid all too common mistakes and plan for future success. Consulting with a
lawyer or a tax professional on every issue is costly and time consuming. Our
goal is to equip you with the knowledge to identify legal and tax risks and
avoid costly consequences down the road.
JOIN OUR NEXT WORKSHOP, FEBRUARY 11 , 2011
KEEPING SECRETS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PROTECTING YOUR TRADE SECRETS AND
THE ESSENTIALS OF NON-COMPETE AND NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENTS
Information is most businesses’ most valuable asset and practically every
business has trade secrets. They can be as simple as a client list, or complex
as a software code or a laboratory notebook. The law protects trade secrets
from use and disclosure by other people, but only as long as they are, in
fact, kept secret.
Join our next workshop to learn how you can protect your confidential
information when your contractors, employees or suppliers have access to it.
Learn how to use simple and practical techniques in your day-to-day business
operation to ensure that your secrets are legally protected and how to avoid
common mistakes that may lead to loss of valuable information.
Among those available tools are non-compete and non-disclosure agreements. All
too often, such contract provisions fail to protect valuable information
because they are overly broad. Join us and learn the basics of effective
non-compete provisions and non-disclosure agreements.
OUR PREVIOUS WORKSHOPS: We launched the Entrepreneurs Initiative on September
24 , 2010. Our first workshop, “Getting Started,” discussed the legal and
tax implications of forming a business and choosing a form of legal entity.
In our second workshop, “Show Me The Money,” held on October 22 , 2010, we
discussed the relationships of early-stage entrepreneurs with investors, and
reviewed methods of business valuation.
Our third workshop, held on November 19 , 2010, focused on tax planning. We
reviewed tax legislation affecting small businesses and provided an update on
tax incentives, credits and other tax planning opportunities, in preparation
for the year-end tax filing.
In our fourth workshop, held on January 14 , 2011, we learned the fundamentals
of accounting and record keeping for small businesses.
Join us for another great workshop, a lively discussion and networking on
February 11 , 2011!
