There's a common glitch in The Sims 3 where if your household has unsold items in the consignment store, the game won't send them back to you and you won't be able to open the buy menu. It has an easy fix: cancel your consignments... except I don't have the option to cancel this time. How can I fix it?
Alchemy is required for some levels of the new Fortune Teller career track, but no others. Alternatively, you can register with city hall to be a self-employed Alchemist. You can visit the consignment store (or place one in the neighborhood if there isn't one already) to "consign" your potions. You'll sell them, but it can usually take a day or two to do so. You stand a chance of selling your potions well above market value, especially if you have the Born Salesman trait.
If you prefer to sell your potions instead, you'll need to visit the alchemists' consignment store with the potion in your personal inventory. Interact with the cash register (assuming the cashier is behind it), then select "Buy." On the pop-up box, click the "Consign" tab.
Elixir consignment shops are exactly what they sound like: a place for Sims to list their elixirs and magic-related items for sale, and to purchase things from others. The default lot, Aleister's Elixirs and Sundries, has a vintage, supernatural vibe and gave Sims a place to craft elixirs, complete with a garden in the back for collecting ingredients.
The Sims 4: Get to Work allows players to open a shop of their own where they can sell pretty much anything they want to, so selling potions isn't exactly impossible. The key difference is that with elixir consignment shops, your sim simply placed a listing and could then carry on with their life. There's no need to actually own the shop to sell from it, or to babysit it constantly to move your inventory, so it's easier to make a career out of freelance elixir-crafting.
Fairies are the only occult introduced in The Sims 3: Supernatural that didn't exist as playable Sims before. Any Sim can become a Fairy by drinking the Bottled Blessing of the Fae elixir, which can be crafted by a level 10 alchemist or purchased at a consignment shop.
Werewolves are powerful, social creatures that can be created by receiving the Werewolf Curse, or by drinking the Bottled Curse of the Lycan elixir, which can be created at level 8 of the Alchemy skill or purchased from the consignment shop.
Getting Started at Consignment
There is a consignment shop in every town in The Sims 3. Open from 9:30AM to 6:00PM every day of the week. To use the store, head there during hours of operation and click the counter and select buy. At the top of the screen there is a consign tab. This will show all items available for sale through your personal and family inventory. It's best to have a single Sim in the household handle all sales, as they will get better. Their progress as a salesman is viewable in the skill journal.
A Tip for a Fast Start on the Consignment Skill
If your Sim has born salesman, take $1,000 Simoleons and head to the supermarket. Buy 99 Lettuce and 99 Apples for 5 Simoleons each. Head to the store around 2:30 and consign all 99 (use the quantity boxes to make this easier). My test Sim managed to sell over 100 of the items at $10 each, making all her money back. This immediately earned her an Excellent reputation, lowering the consignment fees for future purchases. On the second day, most of the produce sold and she also achieved the Consignment Store Profit Challenge, which seems to increase the likelihood that you'll get more sales in a single day. In fact, once your Sim gets good at selling, they can generally buy items and get more money than they paid for them, leading to infinite cash.
The End Result: The Master of Consignment
The Consignment Shop, while a bit buggy, is an excellent addition to The Sims 3. When fully maxed out, you'll sell most items in a single try and only have to cancel a few to put them back up again. With all the bonuses combined Simmers can expect to sell their products at 235% of their original value. That is, a small painting worth $976 will sell for $2289 with no consignment store fee. All the self employment options in The Sims 3 were viable for making a decent living, but using the consignment shop sets them over the top.
When it comes to becoming a witch in Sims 3, you have a couple of paths to choose from. The first option involves creating a supernaturally gifted witch sim from the very beginning in create-a-sim. The second option is to either brew up a witches brew elixir or buy one from the elixir consignment store. Additionally, if you are wanting to grow your family and make a larger coven, you can add witches to your family by having a baby with a sim that has witch genes. If you follow these simple methods on how to become a witch in Sims 3, you will be on your way to a magical gameplay experience!
If you cannot gather the ingredients to make the Potent Cure Elixir yourself or you do not have a high enough alchemy skill, you will need to purchase the cure from a consignment store. Head on over to the elixir consignment store if you have added it to your town and check the daily inventory for the elixir. If you do not find the potent cure immediately, keep checking back daily in order to eventually find it.
I took all that and dumped it all at the elixir consignment shop that morning. Took 4 trips between 2 sims to go through everything to make sure I kept what I needed and sold what I did not. The tiberium had grown into 3 spires, the cheaper two I sold (one was worth 34k the other 38k).
The neighborhood in question is Moonlight Falls, a bosky mountainous village where vampires and werewolves rub shoulders much as they would in an episode of True Blood. It's not necessary to limit your experiments to the new ghouls and goblins in Moonlight Falls if you have busier households elsewhere, but the foggy meadows and varied Victorian architecture complement the ambiance of the expansion as a whole. The new lots are particularly nice, such as a supernatural hangout with monster-themed games and an elixir consignment shop, and it's fun to try out the new broomstick-riding skills at the riding course. Elsewhere, Supernatural excels in the little details, such as being able to creep out loved ones by telling them you watch them while they're sleeping, and the way fairies can die like moths if they get too close to a lamp.
Not all elixirs are learned by researching the Alchemy station. There are 6 additional elixirs that require an Alchemy Recipe Book. You can purchase these books at the Alchemy Consignment shop, or the bookstore.
When Feronia went to the Enchanted Forest lot (the one which appears with a Elixir consignment store sign on the map for some reason), she walked to the far end of the lot and then turned round to head back to the centre before stopping.
