FPATelevision Rewards YouTube Style Humor and Wit with Video Contest
FPA is pleased to announce the creation
of its own television channel – FPATelevision – on the popular
video Web site, YouTube.
"YouTube continues to speed up the convergence of television and the
internet," said Marvin W. Tuttle, Jr., CAE, executive director/CEO of FPA.
"And in the fast moving world of Web 2.0 and social marketing, you can
either jump onboard for a fun and wild ride, or you can be left in the dust,
and we are definitely onboard."
The channel will host videos produced by FPA and its membership. It will also
allow members as well as the general public to view broadcasted events such as
FPA Chair Nicholas Nicolette's testimony before the Senate Special Committee on
Aging last year. "Using FPATelevision, we can tell the stories of our members,
like those who are active in pro bono projects," said Tuttle. "It's
another tool we can use to explain the value of financial planning."
To help inaugurate FPATelevision, FPA is sponsoring a video contest, which is
open to all FPA members. The winner will receive a 40" High Definition
flat screen television and waiver of registration fees at FPA Boston 2008, or a
full reimbursement of fees if the winner has already registered.
To enter, an individual or a team (comprised of at least one FPA member) must
produce a video (no longer than five minutes) on the theme of: How NOT to do
Financial Planning. Once the video has been uploaded to YouTube, the entrant
must send an e-mail to Video....@FPAnet.org with the video's URL address.
The video will then be added to a special "video playlist" on
FPATelevision. View full contest rules.
"We're really hoping people have some fun with this contest. We're going
to be looking for humor and wit in the true spirit of YouTube," said Brad
White, FPA's Director of Public Affairs. "We hope to get entries from
individuals, small firms, large firms and particularly from our student members, like the folks at Texas Tech."
The winning video and prize awards will be announced at FPA Boston 2008.
