Rising Up is coordinating a nonviolent rebellion in November this year against 30 years of criminal inaction by the UK government on the climate emergency and ecological crisis. The science is done - we are now heading for extinction. The time has come to take radical and serious political action
Those of you that know me know I’ve been working on Transition and Environmental issues and campaigning for many years now. This Autumn is the biggest thing I’ve been involved in and the answer to prayers made in 2016, to find the best way to work on these incredibly difficult issues.
As most of you probably know the climate science is grim and you just have to look around to know we aren’t doing anything about it with any kind of meaningful energy behind it. As much as many of us have tried. I’m working with a dedicated team to create an uprising this autumn (what commentators like Chris Packham and climate scientists have said is our last hope for change). It’s called Extinction Rebellion. It’s based in social science research about how things change.
The Declaration of Rebellion takes place on Oct 31st in London (https://www.facebook.com/events/1588038141300204/ ) and will be followed on Nov 12th by two weeks of actions which will likely lead to very short term jail time for some. Maybe you? Would you join us if you knew if would make a significant difference? To find out more about the rationale and how you might be involved (not everyone will do jail time!) please join some of the talks happening in Stroud (They are happening across the UK and momentum is gathering as a result for the autumn).
