A workshop on the theme of 'local currencies and the future of money' is being held on Saturday 2nd March, 9.30-17.30 at the Centre for Science and Art, Lansdown, Stroud GL5 1BB. The workshop is organised by Stroud Pound Co-op Ltd.

Local currencies are circulating in Lewes, Brixton, Totnes, Bristol and in the Stroud District. Each local currency is slightly different in concept and implementation and some have an electronic component.

In this workshop we would like to share experiences of working with local currencies and find ways of cooperating more closely. There will also be an opportunity to discuss the implications of a ground breaking new book recently published by Positive Money. "Modernising Money" suggests simple yet radical reforms to break the stranglehold of debt affecting our economy.

The programme includes a talk by a speaker from Positive Money, a world café discussion, a chance to spend and exchange local currency and an opportunity to share experiences.

The cost for the day including lunch is £25 / £20 in (any) local currency.
