Dear Friends,
On 23 June we are holding our third Vale of Evesham Local Food Festival. Present indications are that it will be the biggest and best yet.
Despite our emphasis on the local aspects of food production and distribution, it is a fact that the food industry remains a global entity. Accordingly I'm sure you were as concerned as us by the recent report "Global Food: Waste Not, Want Not" which found that between 30 and 50% of all the food produced in the world never reaches a human stomach.
We are therefore marking the week before the Local Food Festival with a special event in which the author of the report, David Williams, will talk about his findings and proposed solutions to the wastage problem. We are very fortunate to have secured David's time because, since the release of his report, he has been travelling the world to speak at food-related conferences and the like.
The event, which we have entitled WASTE NOT WANT NOT! in deference to David's report, will take place at South Worcestershire College in Evesham at 6.30 pm on Tuesday 18 June. Full details are given on the attached poster and event schedule.
The event is open to all, and we will be very grateful if you will pass the word about it among your colleagues. It is not necessary to book a place, but our planning would be assisted if you wouldn't mind doing so. This can be done either via the "Contact Us: Energy Group" facility on our website,
www.transitioneveshamvale.org.uk, or by replying to me directly at the above email address.
We believe the 18 June event will be both interesting and thought-provoking. We look forward to seeing you and your colleagues there.
In conclusion my apologies to anyone who has already received this notice; duplication is so easy when working off a number of databases!
Regards,
David Dunbar
Transition Evesham Vale.
