Subject: Open Teaching Positions - ARISE High School

Hello Dr. Galguera!

My name is Hannah Nguyen and I am the Ethnic Studies & 9th grade lead teacher at ARISE High School, a social justice-centered public charter school located in the Fruitvale Village of East Oakland. As a lead teacher, I also support my school community with digital PR (mainly designing the website) and teacher recruitment.

I am reaching out to the Teacher Education Program at Mills College to see if you would be able to circulate information about our open positions for the 2021-22 school year to your alumni network and current Master's Degree & Teaching Credential candidates.

For almost 15 years, ARISE has been a cornerstone of the Fruitvale community, engaging our students in reinvesting their knowledge, wisdom, and resources back into our Oakland home and building towards a more healthy, equitable, and just society. As we grow our community and expand our team, we are looking for teachers passionate about empowering the next generation of critically conscious student leaders through critical pedagogy & liberatory education.

Prospective candidates can learn more about our Mission & Vision here. You are also welcome to share my contact information with any interested students/alumni - I'd be more than happy to answer their questions and share my experiences of working at ARISE!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!

In Community,

Hannah Nguyen
